- Develop and implement strategies to boost brand visibility and sales across various trade channels, including retailers and distributors.
- Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity to inform marketing campaigns.
- Plan and execute promotional activities, in-store campaigns, and point-of-sale displays.
- Create content and coordinate public relations activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with retailers, wholesalers, and other partners.
Sales and business development
- Collaborate to align marketing initiatives with sales objectives.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities and partnerships.
Logistics and operational oversight
- Work with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure products are available and managed properly.
- Oversee budgets, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and report on the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
- Address issues that arise with merchants and customers to protect product quality and delivery.
- Leverage new technologies, such as real-time tracking, to ensure the integrity of the cold chain and improve end-to-end visibility.
Essential skills and qualifications
- Experience: Most positions require at least 3–5 years of experience in trade marketing, retail marketing, or sales, preferably within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) or perishable goods industry.
- Education: A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field is typically required, with some employers preferring or requiring a master's degree.
- Market knowledge: Strong commercial mindset with a deep understanding of retail environments, market trends, and consumer psychology.
- Analytical skills: Ability to analyze sales data, campaign performance, and market insights to inform strategy and calculate return on investment (ROI).
- Communication skills: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Specialized knowledge: Familiarity with supply chain processes, logistics, import/export, and cold chain management is critical for handling perishable products.
- Project management: Strong organizational skills to lead and execute cross-functional initiatives.
