American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position at a large acute care teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and advanced airway management skills.

26-week travel contract at a 1,259-bed short-term acute care teaching and trauma facility

Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)

Weekend requirement: every third weekend

Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs

Charting is performed in Epic

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted

Current RRT credential required

BLS (BCLS) certification required
-
Minimum 2 years of RRT experience required

Epic EMR experience required
-
Proficiency in airway management: endotracheal tube management/suctioning, extubation, nasal airway suctioning, oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy care/suctioning

Medication administration experience required: Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Pulmicort, Racemic Epinephrine, and Xopenex

Experience with medication delivery systems: aerosol mask setup, aerosol trach setup, and metered dose inhaler

Nebulizer experience required: hand-held, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic

High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy experience required

Ventilator management experience required: BiPAP, CPAP, high pressure alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation

ABG interpretation skills required

Valid Missouri state license required at time of consideration; pending Illinois license may be accepted — license required if applicable

Medium to dark gray scrubs required

RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract period; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation

Former permanent employees of the facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
-
Travel RNs/clinicians may work at this facility for up to 18 months before requiring a 3-month break; Allied travelers may work up to 12 months before requiring a 6-month break in service
