Traveling Dental Surgical Assistant

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Traveling Surgical Dental Assistant to support surgical procedures across multiple office locations. This role is critical to maintaining clinical efficiency and ensuring a seamless surgical experience for both patients and providers.

The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a high-performance, team-driven environment. Flexibility, accountability, and strong surgical assisting skills are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the surgeon during surgical procedures using advanced chairside (four-handed) techniques
  • Prepare and break down surgical rooms in accordance with strict infection control and sterilization protocols
  • Ensure all instruments, equipment, and materials are properly set up prior to procedures
  • Take and process dental imaging, including X-rays and 3D scans as required
  • Monitor patient status, including vital signs and comfort, throughout surgical procedures
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within dental software systems
  • Travel between designated office locations as scheduled to support clinical operations
  • Support overall clinical flow and assist team members as needed to maintain efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with all HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of dental assisting experience (oral surgery or specialty experience strongly preferred)
  • Proven experience assisting with surgical procedures
  • Proficiency in dental software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of infection control, sterilization, and chairside assisting protocols
  • Experience with dental imaging (X-rays, CBCT/3D scans preferred)
  • Ability to take and monitor vital signs
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between locations as required
  • Strong work ethic, professionalism, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in a specialty dental setting
  • Radiology certification (if required by state)
  • Bilingual communication skills are a plus

Additional Information

  • This is a direct hire position with a private dental practice (not a staffing agency)
  • Travel between locations is required
  • In-office role only

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 per week
