VOIP Engineer (Contractual)

Karachi, Pakistan

We are seeking a skilled VoIP Engineer to design, deploy, configure, and maintain VoIP systems and unified communications solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with SIP-based technologies, PBX platforms, call routing, session border controllers (SBCs), and network optimization for voice traffic. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, deep understanding of networking protocols, and the ability to ensure secure, reliable, and high-quality voice communications across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage VoIP infrastructure (PBX, IP phones, softphones, SBCs, gateways).
  • Configure and support SIP trunks, call flows, DID management, and VoIP carrier integrations.
  • Monitor VoIP systems performance, call quality, and latency issues to ensure optimal service.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex VoIP, SIP, and RTP-related incidents.
  • Implement QoS (Quality of Service), VLANs, and network optimization for voice traffic.
  • Manage VoIP security including firewalls, SBCs, and encryption protocols (TLS/SRTP).
  • Work with vendors and service providers to resolve escalated issues and manage system upgrades.
  • Maintain documentation including system diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users and IT staff as required.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning for VoIP systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a VoIP Engineer, Network Engineer, or Unified Communications Specialist.
  • Strong knowledge of VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, H.323, MGCP).
  • Hands-on experience with VoIP platforms (e.g., Asterisk, FreePBX, Cisco Call Manager, Avaya, 3CX, or similar).
  • Familiarity with SBCs, gateways, and SIP trunking providers.
  • Solid networking skills: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, QoS, firewalls, VPNs.
  • Experience in troubleshooting call quality issues using tools like Wireshark.
  • Knowledge of VoIP security best practices (TLS, SRTP, NAT traversal, SBC).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
