We are seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Paralegal to join our growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in workers' compensation law and demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases effectively. You will assist attorneys in handling a diverse caseload of workers' compensation claims, from initial filing to resolution, ensuring timely and accurate case management and document preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Assist attorneys with all aspects of workers' compensation claims, including filing and managing claims, preparing legal documents, tracking deadlines, and maintaining case files.
- Legal Research: Conduct legal research on workers' compensation laws, regulations, and precedents to support case strategies.
- Document Preparation: Draft and prepare workers' compensation petitions, settlement agreements, demand letters, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
- Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to update them on case progress, gather necessary information, and provide case-related support.
- Court Filings: Prepare and file documents with state and federal courts and relevant agencies, including but not limited to workers' compensation boards and commission offices.
- Medical Record Review: Review and summarize medical records, treatment reports, and other relevant documentation to support claims and litigation.
- Settlement Negotiations: Assist attorneys in the settlement process, including preparation of settlement documents, negotiation with opposing parties, and tracking settlement terms.
- Trial Preparation: Assist attorneys with trial preparation by organizing evidence, exhibits, and other materials needed for hearings or trials.
- Compliance and Regulations: Ensure compliance with workers' compensation laws, rules, and regulations at both the state and federal levels.
- Client Support: Provide exceptional client service, addressing questions, concerns, and assisting with any documentation required throughout the process.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution. Specialized training in workers' compensation law preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a paralegal in workers' compensation law, with a thorough understanding of workers' compensation procedures and regulations.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of workers' compensation laws, procedures, and terminology.
- Proficient in legal research, drafting documents, and preparing filings.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with legal case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of case files and legal documents.
- Work Ethic: Highly motivated, reliable, and able to handle a fast-paced work environment with competing deadlines.
