Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant

BOOKKEEPER – GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTING

Plano, TX | Hybrid Schedule

Growing public accounting firm specializing in government accounting for small municipalities and special districts seeks a motivated, detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant to manage assigned districts and attend board meetings.

Includes local travel throughout the Metroplex and occasional evening board meetings.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but not limited to)

· Bank and general ledger reconciliations

· Accounts payable processing and check preparation

· Journal entries and monthly financial reports

· Annual budgets and budget vs. actual reporting

· Payroll entries and quarterly/annual payroll tax filings

· Investment tracking and monitoring

· Attend and present financial reports at board meetings

· Professional communication with board members, consultants, and vendors

QUALIFICATIONS

· 3–5 years bookkeeping or accounting experience

· Strong AP and GL reconciliation experience

· Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, Excel, and Outlook

· Ability to learn quickly and work independently

· Proactive, detail-oriented, strong work ethic

· Team-oriented with professional communication skills

· Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance required

PREFERRED

· Government/municipal accounting experience

· Accounting degree

· Public accounting experience

· Prior experience/ability to professionally present reports to small groups
