Catastrophe R&D Analyst Mid or Senior

As a research and development analyst or senior on the Catastrophe Research & Development team, you'll provide support and guidance for catastrophe perils like hurricanes, wildfires, winter storms, severe convective storms, earthquakes, and flooding on our property business. You'll support the implementation of our company's catastrophe risk view and conduct post-event assessments to analyze model performance, presenting findings and proposed actions to the business. You'll identify, validate, and evaluate catastrophe probabilistic models and risk indexes, while selecting and implementing various climate, weather, geospatial, and other catastrophe-related data sources by creating tools, reports, and models for company use. Additionally, you'll research and recommend new ideas to improve our product offerings, lead project work, identify business issues and develop solutions, collaborate, and mentor other analysts.

Must-have qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent or higher and a minimum of five years relevant experience in statistical/quantitative modeling and in using various database tools to manipulate large volumes of structured data.
  • {OR} Bachelor's degree in quantitative field of study and a minimum of two years analytical work experience
  • {OR} Master's degree in quantitative field of study

Preferred skills

  • Proven coding skills with geospatial tools and geocoding software like SpatialKey, ArcGIS, or Tableau
  • Demonstrated ability working with industry-leading catastrophe modeling software such as AIR, KCC, or RMS
  • Intermediate to advanced programming skills using software such as SQL, R, or Python

Compensation

  • $72,100 - $116,300/year depending on position level and experience
  • Gainshare incentive up to 30% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
