Are you a strategic human resources leader passionate about driving people-first initiatives? Care Initiatives is looking for an experienced Director of Human Resources to lead and manage our corporate Home Office HR operations. In this key role, you’ll collaborate with executive leadership and regional HR teams to align people strategy with business goals all while championing compliance, culture, and employee experience. This high-visibility role requires frequent virtual and face to face interactions with staff at all levels across the organization, in addition to serving as a strategic member of the Care Initiatives Ethics Committee.
This position will require in-person presence at the Care Initiatives corporate Home Office located in West Des Moines, Iowa.
What you'll do as the Director of Human Resources:- Champion a strong, inclusive, and mission-aligned culture across all levels of the organization.
- Partner with senior leadership and regional HR to support organizational goals related to talent management, employee retention, and engagement.
- Oversee the administration of Care Initiatives’ human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, employee handbook, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale.
- Analyze organizational trends using HRIS and other talent management systems.
- Develop and manage the department's annual budget.
- Regularly review and update HR policies and practices to reflect changes in legislation and industry best practices.
- Lead training, initiatives, and internal audits related to HR compliance.
- Serve as strategic member of the Care Initiatives’ Ethics Committee.
- Stay current on trends, regulatory updates, and best practices in HR and employment law.
- Provide strategic guidance on the development and implementation of training programs for the HR team.
- Facilitate professional growth and certification opportunities for HR staff.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief People Office.
What it takes to become our Director of Human Resources:- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience with 5+ years in leadership; long-term care industry experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in HRIS platforms; Ceridian Dayforce preferred.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
