Full Charge Bookkeeper

BERKSHIRE is a Wayne, NJ based apparel company looking for a detail-oriented, dependable Bookkeeper / Office Administrator to join our team full-time. This is a hands-on, on-site role that sits at the center of our daily operations — keeping our books clean and our leadership team supported. You will work closely with our external accountant, who visits monthly to close the books, making the accuracy of your day-to-day work essential to the health of the business. We are actively looking to leverage QuickBooks Online to its fullest potential, and we want this person to be a key driver of that effort.

Bookkeeping responsibilities:

Accounts receivable
Record wholesale invoices, apply customer payments, monitor aging reports, and follow up on past-due balances.

Accounts payable & vendor digitization
Enter vendor bills, schedule payments, and reconcile vendor statements. Proactively work with vendors to transition from paper invoices to digital delivery, building an organized, searchable invoice archive on our network.

Transaction coding & bank reconciliation
Review and accurately code automatically imported bank and credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online on a regular basis, and prepare accounts for the monthly close.

Third-party marketplace reconciliation
Reconcile payments received from third-party selling platforms (such as Amazon and Target) against sales activity on each platform. This includes accounting for marketplace fees, chargebacks, and remittance timing differences to ensure net deposits recorded in QuickBooks are accurate and fully supported.

QuickBooks optimization
Take ownership of how we use QuickBooks Online — building and refining bank rules, identifying underutilized features, and suggesting workflow improvements that reduce manual work and improve accuracy over time. We want someone who sees inefficiency and fixes it.

Reporting & record keeping
Generate regular AR aging, and AP aging reports for ownership. Maintain organized digital records so the accountant has everything needed at month-end.

Executive support
Provide light administrative assistance to company leadership — scheduling, correspondence, document preparation, and other tasks as needed.

What we're looking for—

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a product-based or wholesale business
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online required, with a genuine interest in learning and maximizing its features
  • Experience reconciling marketplace payments (Amazon Seller Central, Target Plus, or similar platforms) a significant plus
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with Excel; Google Sheets a plus
  • A process-improvement mindset — you notice inefficiencies, ask questions, and follow through on making things better
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-moving environment
  • Professional, discreet, and comfortable supporting company leadership
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred — but demonstrated experience is equally valued
