As an GM Sales, you will play a critical role in developing and executing our sales strategy, managing a team of sales professionals, and driving revenue growth in the MEP & Fire protection sector. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Development:
- Develop, implement, and oversee the company's comprehensive sales strategy and annual business plan.
- Identify and pursue new market opportunities in emerging technologies and untapped sectors.
- Lead the effort to diversify and grow our service portfolio, including inspection, maintenance, installation, and special hazards.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, strategic partners, major contractors, and specifying engineers.
Sales Team Management & Execution:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the entire sales team (including Sales Managers, Account Executives, and Estimators) to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Establish clear sales goals, KPIs, and performance metrics for the team; conduct regular performance reviews and implement development plans.
- Oversee the entire sales pipeline, from lead generation and qualification to proposal development, contract negotiation, and closing.
- Ensure the sales team utilizes CRM (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) effectively for accurate forecasting and pipeline management.
Financial & Operational Management:
- Own the P&L responsibility for the sales department, managing budgets, forecasting revenue, and controlling costs to maximize profitability.
- Review and approve major bids, proposals, and contracts to ensure accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with company margins.
- Collaborate closely with the Operations, Engineering, and Finance departments to ensure seamless project handoff and customer satisfaction.
Market Analysis & Brand Representation:
- Conduct ongoing market analysis to monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes.
- Position Conexus as a thought leader in the fire protection industry through participation in trade associations, networking events, and conferences.
- Ensure the company's value proposition is clearly communicated and understood in the marketplace.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive sales experience, with at least 5 years in a senior sales leadership role (Director of Sales, VP Sales, or GM of Sales).
- Proven track record within the fire protection, life safety, or a closely related construction/contracting industry (e.g., electrical, HVAC, security systems).
- Deep understanding of fire protection systems (sprinkler, alarm, suppression, kitchen hood) and relevant codes (NFPA, UL).
- Demonstrated success in developing strategic sales plans and consistently exceeding revenue and profitability targets.
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience in recruiting, training, and developing a high-performance sales team.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing a P&L, budgets, and forecasts.
Preferred:
- Existing network of contacts within the construction, engineering, and property management sectors.
- Experience with CRM software and modern sales enablement tools.
