Job Title: Head of Procurement
Job Summary
The Head of Procurement will lead and manage the procurement function for the organization, ensuring the efficient sourcing of materials, equipment, subcontractors, and services required for construction projects. The role focuses on developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, optimizing costs, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements, and supporting project delivery through effective supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company’s construction project requirements and business objectives.
- Lead and manage the procurement team, ensuring effective performance and professional development.
- Establish procurement policies, procedures, and best practices to improve efficiency and transparency.
- Ensure procurement activities align with company financial and operational goals.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop strategic relationships with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable contract terms, and quality materials.
- Maintain a strong supplier database and vendor prequalification process.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement plans when necessary.
- Oversee procurement for construction projects including materials, equipment, and subcontract packages.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to ensure timely procurement.
- Review and approve purchase orders, contracts, and procurement documentation.
- Develop cost-saving initiatives and procurement optimization strategies.
- Monitor procurement budgets and ensure cost-effective purchasing.
- Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to ensure competitive pricing.
Contract & Risk Management
- Review and negotiate procurement contracts and agreements.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify procurement risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Implement procurement systems, digital tools, and reporting dashboards to track procurement activities.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to project sites.
- Coordinate logistics and supply chain operations when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
- Master’s degree or CIPS certification is an advantage.
- 10–15+ years of procurement experience, preferably within construction, infrastructure, or contracting companies.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
