Job Overview

The HR Operations Manager will manage and optimize our benefits and HR operations in a fast-paced, fully remote environment. This role ensures the smooth running of day-to-day HR, payroll and benefits operations, focusing on compliance, data accuracy, employee experience, and scalable process improvements. The position manages the HR Operations and Payroll team, and collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners to enhance the employee lifecycle, leave, and performance management, ensuring a human-centered approach while driving efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Employee Lifecycle Management: Lead onboarding, orientation, employee changes, and offboarding with an emphasis on positive employee experiences.

  • HR Operations: Ensure the integrity and accuracy of HR data by utilizing effective auditing tools, troubleshooting, and maintaining HR operating documentation.

  • Payroll Operations: Management of payroll processing to include tax set-up, reporting and compliance for multi-state payrolls.

  • Process Automation & Project Management: Drive HR projects, focusing on process automation and operational efficiency improvements that align with the company's growth and strategic direction.

  • Group Health and Welfare Plans Management: Oversee all health and welfare benefits programs, partnering with brokers to manage administration and compliance.

  • Benefits Administration: Manage benefit enrollment and communications, ensuring accurate processing and timely monthly reconciliations of benefits invoices.

  • Leave Administration: Work with Sr HR Business Partner to manage all employee leaves and processes, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws (e.g. FMLA) while maintaining a personal, human touch.

  • Performance Management System: Maintain and enhance the performance management system, working with stakeholders to improve review processes, feedback forms, and employee check-ins.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with HR data privacy, security, and other regulatory requirements.

  • HRIS/HCM Management: Ensure data accuracy and integrity across all HR systems through regular audits and effective input and verification processes.

  • Reporting & Metrics: Assist with providing leadership with data-driven insights and recommendations based on HR and benefits-related reports and metrics.

  • Knowledge Sharing: Partner with internal teams to develop HR communications, training materials, and knowledge management tools to ensure alignment across the organization.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in HR, specifically in benefits, HR operations, Payroll, and performance/leave management.

  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing and coaching professional level employees

  • Experience and a high-level of comfortability managing HR services in a high-growth, fast-paced remote environment (ideally in a startup), effectively managing multiple priorities.

  • Experience managing benefits and leave administration in compliance with federal and state laws.

  • Experience in project management, with a focus on process automation and operational efficiency.

  • Proven track record of managing HRIS/HCM and performance management systems with a strong analytical and data-driven approach process.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly to internal teams and external partners.

  • Exceptional relationship-building abilities, with experience working closely with senior leadership, employees, and external vendors.

  • Proficiency with MS Office and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides), video platforms (Zoom, Google Meet).

  • Technologically savvy, with a passion for process improvements, exploring tools to improve automation and efficiency in HR operations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.

Compensation Range: $120K - $130K
