Job Overview
The HR & Safety Generalist serves as a vital bridge between human resources, field operations, safety compliance, and training. This role is ideal for a self-starter who is equally comfortable coordinating OSHA audits, running toolbox talks, and updating HR files. You’ll help ensure a safe, compliant, and values-aligned workplace for all employees—from the forest to the fleet.
Responsibilities:
HR Administration & Employee Support
- Maintain accurate, confidential employee files and digital records.
- Enter, track, and update employee data in HR systems.
- Facilitate onboarding and offboarding processes; complete required checklists and documentation.
- Provide frontline HR support and guidance on policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Distribute HR memos, policy updates, and other internal communications.
- Assist in maintaining DOT-compliant Driver Qualification Files.
Safety Program Management
- Coordinate weekly Toolbox Talks and monthly safety meetings.
- Track, file, and report safety records, inspections, and training attendance.
- Maintain and update SDS binders and chemical safety documentation.
- Prepare and submit OSHA 300 logs and other required safety reports.
- Help facilitate emergency response drills and maintain compliance documentation.
- Monitor and reorder safety supplies as needed across worksites.
Compliance & Training
- Deliver new hire safety training and ongoing safety awareness programs.
- Develop, document, and revise safety policies in collaboration with leadership.
- Conduct workplace safety audits and inspections.
- Analyze incident trends; assist with investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Administer workers’ compensation claims; liaise with insurance carriers and track statuses.
- Promote a culture of near-miss reporting, safe behavior, and team accountability.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of HR generalist experience required, more preferred.
OR
- Minimum 2 years of safety program coordination or active safety committee participation, more preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
- Experience in industrial or construction environments strongly preferred.
- OSHA 10 or higher certification preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Base Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
