Job Description

The Accounting Manager has an integral role in the development, implementation, administration, and delivery of financial systems, business analysis, project management, and consulting services that directly support Finance & Treasury Affairs. The Manager will be responsible for the direction of Financial Systems functions. The Manager will research financial record-keeping and reporting requirements and ensure that systems are modified to meet these requirements. This includes the maintenance of the Lawson System for General Ledger. Manage & problem solves issues related to interfaces coming into Lawson GL (Epic, McKesson, Matrix Care, etc.). This position is also responsible for the participation in the processes of evaluating future business system needs for the system and implementation of financial system acquisitions for the system. Work with accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and cash management with the report and interface reconciliations, product updates/upgrades. Establish best practices for financial systems, and will take a lead role in planning, preparation, and delivery of financial and business analysis. The position will also be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions for the Valley Health hospital, medical group, and ambulatory entities. This includes but is not limited to general ledger accounting, fixed assets, activities, inventories, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Some duties may include, but are not limited to:

Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including skills in planning, organizing, and managing complex functions and projects.

Expert-level skills on one or more technical platforms required

Capable of Independent thinking in terms of considering potential areas for analysis or performance improvement and initiate projects around those areas without direction required

Ability to learn unfamiliar concepts quickly required.

Ability to effectively manage a complex, dynamically changing schedule around the needs of customers required.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and able a supportive contributor or leader in team matters required.

Professional demeanor and capable of developing and maintaining positive, service-oriented relationships with all levels of healthcare professionals, both internal and external, to VHS, as well as Board members, administration and others required.

Responsible for ad hoc reporting/schedules as requested by management, in both Epic and Lawson GL required.

Responsible for providing internal/external auditors with accurate and timely data relating to audited financial statements.

Responsible for technical accounting and analytical functions in the preparation, maintenance, and processing of accounting records and financial transactions, both in Infor and Epic.

Responsible for accurate monthly financial statements within timelines of Senior Management, and in accordance with GAAP

Excellent analytical skills with a strong grasp of financial concepts such as financial statement analysis and lead sheet analysis for an external audit required.

Ability to supervise staff required

Ability to execute and integrate complex financial analysis

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

Manage systems' to Lawson GL Interfaces (including Epic)

Perform/Assist with interface reconciliation.

Working knowledge of general accounting, healthcare revenue cycles, healthcare finance required.

Working experience in a not-for-profit healthcare setting.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field required.


Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 7 years accounting, finance, or treasury experience required.


Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.


Demonstrated knowledge of accounting systems and experience in implementation and/or conversion of accounting systems required.


Ability to supervise staff required.

Working knowledge of general accounting, healthcare revenue cycle, healthcare finance required

Working experience in a not-for-profit healthcare setting

Working knowledge of financial statements and general knowledge of financial transactions required

Excellent oral and written communication skills required

Certification & Licensure

CPA preferred.
