Procurement Officer – Construction

The Procurement Officer – Construction is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and subcontractor services required for construction projects. The role ensures cost efficiency, quality compliance, and timely delivery while adhering to company policies and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and evaluate suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for construction materials and services.
  • Obtain and analyze quotations, negotiate pricing, and prepare comparative statements.
  • Issue purchase orders and contracts in accordance with project requirements.
  • Ensure materials meet technical specifications and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with approved vendors and subcontractors.
  • Conduct vendor performance evaluations.
  • Maintain an updated and approved vendor database.
  • Resolve supplier disputes and delivery issues.
  • Support cost estimation and budgeting activities.
  • Monitor market trends for construction materials.
  • Achieve cost savings targets through effective negotiation and sourcing strategies.
  • Ensure procurement aligns with project budgets.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing supplier and subcontractor agreements.
  • Ensure contractual compliance with company policies and project terms.
  • Monitor contract milestones, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
  • Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and finance teams.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and legal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and audit trails.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid project delays.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–7 years of procurement experience, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and subcontracting processes.
  • Familiarity with contract management and procurement software/ERP systems.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
