Production Manager School Books

​The Production Manager will oversee the entire physical lifecycle of educational materials—from final layout approval to warehouse delivery. This role ensures that all titles are printed on time, within budget, and meet the high-quality standards required for the national market.

​Key Responsibilities

  • Print Management: Source and manage relationships with printers and binders in Karachi’s industrial hubs. Negotiate pricing, monitor print runs, and ensure paper quality meets specifications.
  • Production Planning: Develop and maintain a production schedule to ensure books are ready for the peak academic selling season.
  • Cost Control: Prepare detailed cost estimates for every print run. Optimize "per-unit" costs through efficient paper sizing, plate management, and volume forecasting.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct press checks and final inspections to ensure color accuracy (especially for pre-primary phonics and illustrations), binding strength, and trim precision.
  • Supply Chain & Inventory: Coordinate with the warehouse team to manage stock levels. Oversee the logistics of transporting finished goods from the press to the distribution center.
  • Vendor Compliance: Ensure all vendors adhere to timelines and ethical labor standards.

​Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Graphic Arts/Printing Technology.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in the publishing or printing industry in Karachi. Direct experience with educational textbooks and pre-primary readers is highly preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: * Deep understanding of Offset and Digital printing processes.
  • ​Knowledge of paper types (Grammage, FSC standards, brightness levels) and binding techniques (Perfect bind, saddle stitch).
  • ​Familiarity with prepress software and layout requirements.
  • Skills:
  • ​Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • ​Advanced proficiency in Excel for cost tracking and inventory analysis.
  • ​Ability to work under pressure during "peak season" (January–March).

  • Detail-Oriented: A keen eye for spotting typographical or color-grading errors before they go to press.
  • Proactive: Able to anticipate potential delays in the supply chain (e.g., paper shortages or power outages) and provide solutions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs20,000.00 - Rs50,000.00 per month
