The Patient Care Technician functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population in order to achieve desired outcomes. This position focuses on expanding knowledge and skills, provides effective direct and indirect care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients. Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse, promotes patient satisfaction, comfort and safety. Assists with a variety of patient, unit and environment-related tasks. Participates in patient safety initiatives. 
1. Provide patient care, based on physical, psychosocial, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the guests/patients served in assigned service
2. Provide for effective and safe guest/patients outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
3. Ongoing communication with patients, nursing colleagues and other members of the health care team regarding patient's status and rendered care
4. Take self-directed or self-motivated initiative to do more than is expected or required in the job, acting before being required to by events, improving job performance, and/or creating new opportunities
5. Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning and continuum of care
6. Participate in Unit/Department Performance Improvement [PI] activities 
Specific Job Functions may include but not limited to:
1. Welcomes patients and checks for proper identification bracelets.
2. Prepares the patient for assessment/admission, physical examination and procedures. 3. Recognizes and responds to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction.
4. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to age of patients on the unit.
5. Obtains clinical data, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, O2 saturation and documents findings in patient record and notifies RN immediately of abnormal results.
6. Draws intravenous or capillary blood from newborn through geriatric aged patients using proper aseptic collection techniques, assure appropriate labeling and processing of specimens to expedite throughput of patients.
7. Performs venipuncture for laboratory tests
8. Demonstrates a reliable and dependable ability to follow through with designated responsibilities in the collecting, labeling, and transporting of specimens to the proper area at the appropriate time: always correctly labels type of specimen collected, including patients name and room number.
9. Performs EKG for patients as directed.
10. Assures the presence, functionality and cleanliness of all necessary equipment. Checks and maintains code cart, O2, and other emergency medical equipment as directed.
11. Applies bandages, slings, compression boots and hypothermia blankets according to standard as directed by RN.
12. Assists in the transport of patient to departments or units upon request.
13. Assists with preparation as necessary assuring the patient is assisted with meals/ or fed as needed.
14. Checks inventory of assigned area and restocks as directed.
15. Ensures room environment is prepared for admission.
16. Provides direct hygiene and comfort care to patients including bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, incontinent care, and bed making.
17. Assists the patients with dressing/undressing and placing patient belongings in the appropriate bag labeled with completed property checklist. Monitors the return of clothing to family of patient.
18. Performs and documents glucose finger sticks and collects other specimens as directed.
19. Provides post mortem care
20. Obtains and documents patient weights and observes and documents patient's intake and output.
21. Provides a safe patient environment by answering call lights promptly, communicating with the RN immediately for any change in the patient's condition.
22. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs not limited to (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.)
23. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.</li><li>
Completion of one of the following: - Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician program or - Fundamentals of Nursing program from an accredited school of nursing or - HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program - Or equivalent medical background experience, such as EMT, Home Health Aide, CMA, MA, PCT, Nursing Assistant. Note: Candidates that have not completed one of the programs but meet the other requirements will be considered for selection into the HMH PCT Apprentice Program. The Measure Technician (In-Home Advisor) works independently in a traveling field role in support of The Home Depot's Field Services Organization. Clinical Coordinator

<div>Position Purpose:
Pro Experience Managers (Pro XM) are members of the store leadership team responsible for overseeing the execution of store standards, including customer service, department readiness, and operational processes. Working alongside the in-store Pro team, this role executes strategies to increase sales, loyalty, and Pro Xtra signups while ensuring a speedy, accurate customer experience. Our Maternal Child Services team is responsible for the 36 bed Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby, and High Risk Antepartum areas, 7 bed triage, and 2 Operating Rooms. We are also designated a Baby Friendly Institution.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a Registered Nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:<ul><li>
Delivery of nursing practices according to the most up-to-date evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care, to provide and ensure safe and excellent delivery of individualized patient care.</li><li>
Ongoing communication with patients, nursing colleagues and other members of the health care team regarding patients' status, rendered care and treatment plans.</li><li>
Medication administration utilizing the newest advancements in bar-scanning and documentation technologies designed to ensure the safest delivery of medications to our patients.</li><li>
Ongoing Point-of-Care electronic documentation of each individual patients' assessments, plan-of-care, interventions and evaluation of rendered care.</li><li>
Patient and family centered education aimed at optimizing health, wellness and disease management.</li><li>
Multi-disciplinary discharging of patients to ensure safe transitioning and continuum of care.</li><li>
The Registered Nurse in Maternal Child Services is responsible for the care of: - Labor and Delivery patients - Mother/Baby couplet care - High Risk Antepartum care - Circulating in the Operating Room - Newborn Nursery Care.</li></ul>
Qualifications:
<ul><li>Current and valid New Jersey Registered Nurse license is required</li><li>
BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association is required within 60 days of hire</li><li>
Must have a minimum of 6 months of nursing experience or be an active participant in the Hackensack Meridian Health Nurse Residency program</li><li>
Maternal child services experience in a hospital setting including labor and delivery, postpartum, antepartum, and well-baby nursery is preferred</li><li>
ACLS preferred, must obtain within 6 months</li><li>
NRP preferred, must obtain within 6 months</li><li>
Inpatient Obstetrics and/or External Fetal Monitoring Certification is a plus</li><li>
BSN in progress and/or willing to acquire within three (3) years of hire</li><li>
The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers, an exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education and the ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus are all required.</li></ul>
