Essential Job Functions: 
 
Determines an appropriate pre-anesthesia examination has been made by a physician, relevant tests have been completed and a thorough assessment of the patient has been performed. Develops a plan of care based on assessment, interpretation, anticipated procedure, and essential equipment. Coordinates with appropriate health care providers. Administers anesthetic agents and adjunctive therapeutics. Monitors physiological responses and takes corrective action to maintain or stabilize the patient's condition. Provides resuscitative care. Records pertinent information on the patient's records. Terminates anesthesia. Provides patients with post-anesthesia care. 
 
EDUCATION

Essential Job Functions: 
 
Responsible for providing anesthesia services under the medical direction of an attending credentialed anesthesiologist prior to, during and following surgery, procedural care, or for diagnostic or therapeutic interventions. Develops a plan of care based on preoperative assessments and coordinates with all appropriate healthcare givers. Initiates the planned anesthetic technique under the medical direction of the anesthesiologist. Registered Nurse (RN)

<div>Seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our team. The Lymphoma and Myeloma department is renowned internationally for the diagnosis, treatment and research of diseases focused on lymphoma, myeloma and blood disorders that affect the body's blood and lymph systems. From caring for patients, to conducting cutting-edge clinical and translational research, our faculty and staff are dedicated to finding a cure for patients diagnosed with lymphoma or myeloma. 
 
The ideal candidate will be a licensed PA or APRN, including new graduates, who demonstrates strong critical thinking skills to manage complex patient needs and coordinate care effectively. They are a proactive self starter with a genuine commitment to continuous learning, especially as new therapies and clinical innovations emerge. Prior experience in Oncology setting preferred. This position is Outpatient with a schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

KEY FUNCTIONS 
<ul><li>Conducts comprehensive health assessments, identifies normal/abnormal health characteristics, develops treatment plans, initiates appropriate care and continuously evaluates care outcomes.</li><li>Performs delegated functions under the supervision of the physician to include differential diagnosis, use of prescriptive authority, and/or treatment of a variety of human responses throughout the wellness to illness spectrum according to practice guidelines, protocols or standing orders.</li><li>Serves as a clinical resource, utilizing advanced nursing knowledge and critical thinking skills to act as interdisciplinary consultant and client advocate. Provides nursing, education and counseling services to individuals, families, and groups, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention as well as the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic disease.</li><li>Promotes quality health care through integration of current research into practice.</li><li>Help prepare chemotherapy orders.</li><li>Evaluate patients and perform physical examinations.</li><li>Write information and clinic notes to and for the physician.</li><li>Explain treatment options and plans to patients.</li><li>Perform other patient care related activities and various administrative duties pertaining to patient care and/or clinic operations as assigned by the Medical Director of the clinic and/or the attending physician.</li></ul> 

EDUCATION 
Required: 
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
 
<ul><li>Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003.
</li><li>Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.</li></ul>
Physician Assistant
 
<ul><li>Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013.

EXPERIENCE 
Preferred:
 
<ul><li>At least 1 year of Oncology experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.</li></ul>

Physician Assistant
 
All of the following: 
<ul><li>PA certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.</li><li>Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners.</li><li>MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.</li></ul>
Must meet the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) , ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) if working in one of following department: Pediatrics - Patient Care (113100).
