Position Summary:

AMS is seeking a passionate, data-driven 8th Grade Composition Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction and build strong foundational literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills.
AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and consistent data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction &amp; Student Achievement<ul><li>
Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction aligned to AMS curriculum frameworks.</li><li>
Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.</li><li>
Use formative and summative assessment data to drive instructional planning and interventions.</li><li>
Build strong foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.</li></ul>
Classroom Culture &amp; Student Support<ul><li>
Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.</li><li>
Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies.</li><li>
Support students&rsquo; academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.</li></ul>
Collaboration &amp; Professional Growth<ul><li>
Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.</li><li>
Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to continuously improve teaching practices.</li><li>
Contribute to school-wide systems and continuous improvement initiatives.</li></ul>
Family Engagement<ul><li>
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.</li><li>
Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.</li></ul>
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:<ul><li>
Possess strong writing instructions skills</li></ul>
 And<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in a related field (e.g., Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or relevant content area) 
OR</li><li>
Valid Arizona teaching certification in a relevant subject area 
OR</li><li>
Minimum of three (3) years of K&ndash;12 teaching experience</li><li>
Plus SEI Endorsement or completion of 45 hours of SEI training is preferred but not required</li></ul>
Additionally, candidates must:<ul><li>
Demonstrate strong classroom management skills</li><li>
Be able to collaborate with ELA Teachers</li><li>
Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card</li><li>
Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities</li><li>
Demonstrate strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset</li><li>

<div>POSITION INFORMATION: 
Highly Qualified preschool teacher that possess a valid Elementary Certification with an Early Childhood endorsement or a valid Early Childhood certification and an AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Position is grant funded. 
 
GOAL: 
To create and maintain a learning environment that supports students toward the fulfullment of their potential for academic achievement, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated. 
2. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. 
3. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation. 
4. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. 
5. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to address the individuals or student groups involved. 
6. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district&rsquo;s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. 
7. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. 
8. Ascertain possible learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required. 
9. Evaluates student progress on a regular basis. 
10. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation. 
11. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy. 
12. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested. 
13. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) in cooperation with department heads, evaluates their job performance. 
14. Maintains professionalism by participating in all faculty meetings. 
15. Collaborates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods. 
17. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. 
18. Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned. 
19. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their
 
parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students. 
20. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with community, colleagues, and administration. 
21. Provides for his/her professional growth through an on-going program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning. 
22. Other responsibilities as determined by the Principal. 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 
Ten months. Salary and work year to be established by the Governing Board. 
EVALUATION: 
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy.</div>
