ROLE SUMMARY
AstraZeneca is accelerating the expansion of our geographical footprint in rare diseases following the acquisition of Alexion in 2021. Rare disease is a high-growth therapy area with rapid innovation and significant unmet medical need. Over 7,000 rare diseases are known today &ndash; yet less than 1% of them have an approved treatment.
As we build our position as a Rare Disease leader, we seek a Rare Disease Medical Science Liaison to join our Medical Affairs team in Western Region, KSA.
As a Medical Science Liaison &ndash; Rare Disease you'll play a pivotal role in channelling our scientific capabilities to bring an important new therapy in a rare disease setting into clinical practice, making a positive impact on patients' lives.
The Medical Science Liaison &ndash; Rare Disease is a professional with scientific, clinical and therapeutic area expertise responsible for providing medical and scientific support to healthcare professionals aligned to the use of medicines in our combined rare disease portfolio. You will report into the Medical Manager Rare Disease.
In this role you will be expected to identify and cultivate relationships with HCPs working in the field including physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and pharmacists as well as other key strategic partners, such as patient advocacy groups. You will conduct educational programs on disease state and the appropriate use of our medicines, consistent with Medical Affairs plans and objectives. You will also respond to customer inquiries to ensure focused clinical and scientific information that supports the appropriate use of these medicines.
Additionally you will deliver clinical and scientific information to support appropriate use of the medicine in the relevant therapy area in a patient focused manner; maintain expertise in disease state management, keep abreast of emerging therapies and the therapeutic landscape; gather customer insights regarding the use of the medicine in the wider therapeutic landscape to help inform medical and commercial strategies while adhering to internal standards, processes and complying with regulatory and compliance requirements.

Advanced Stakeholder Engagement<ul><li>
Provide AZ with an understanding of the local medical community, clinical practice trends, HCP insight and real or perceived gaps in current scientific knowledge and medical treatment</li><li>
Share emerging data with HCPs, discussing all aspects of the data in a scientific, objective, and balanced way.

Essential for the role<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, or Pharmacology</li><li>
Minimum of 2 years&rsquo; experience in Medical Affairs and at least 6 years within the pharmaceutical industry</li><li>

ROLE SUMMARY

This high-impact therapy area addresses significant unmet medical needs in upper and lower airway conditions, including Asthma, COPD, Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps (CRSwNP), and other future Indications.
The Medical Advisor, Biologics role ensures the delivery of high quality and impactful scientific engagement, medical education, evidence support, transform care and field insights generation in alignment with the respiratory and immunology TA priorities. The role is also responsible for driving the execution of medical activities and building advocacy with the relevant specialties across Saudi Arabia - Western Region in the assigned disease area.
You will act as a trusted partner to healthcare professionals, multidisciplinary centers of excellence, and cross-functional teams assuring that science, clinical precision, and patient outcomes remain at the core of every initiative.
This role requires strong therapeutic knowledge in biological therapies and airway diseases, scientific acumen, and the ability to connect field-based insights to the broader business and medical strategy during this critical phase of portfolio growth and new launches.
This role is responsible for a highly strategic product and disease area that involves working extensively with external stakeholders to forge strong relations and foster scientific and strategic partnerships within major hospitals and institutions/ authorities in their assigned territory and non-traditional stakeholders (E.g. policy and decision makers, payer groups, government, researchers, and others to help bridge the gaps and provide health system solutions.

Field Medical Excellence<ul><li>
Execute the Biologics Medical Affairs Plan in alignment with guidance from the TA Lead and cross-functional brand teams.</li><li>
Deliver scientific exchange with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and decision-makers to support the appropriate use of AstraZeneca&rsquo;s biologics portfolio.</li><li>

Support the planning and operationalization of local studies, biologic registries, and Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS) in coordination with the TA Lead, Evidence Generation, and Clinical Operations teams.</li><li>
Contribute to the development and review of scientific materials, ensuring accuracy, balance, and compliance with SFDA regulations.</li><li>
Disseminate emerging clinical data regarding biologic efficacy and safety to internal and external stakeholders in an ethical and scientifically objective manner.</li></ul>
Cross-Functional Medical Support<ul><li>
