Position Responsibilities<ul><li>
Responsible for facilitating the smooth flow of patients through the clinic through interaction with patients, families, and staff.</li><li>
Assist in clinic with physical examination of patient and related treatments, including but not limited to allergies and immunizations and vital sign assessment (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature).</li><li>
Manage internal and external medical records to ensure that accurate and complete data is available for patient appointments.</li><li>
Perform routine laboratory tests such as urinalysis and blood work, does electrocardiograms and x-ray work as needed.</li><li>
Perform related clerical tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing information to other departments.</li><li>
Partner with nursing staff to ensure timely, thorough clinic work up and follow up including calls to patients (post procedure, normal test results, fasting, appointment reminders, etc.), preparation of patient education materials and packets, monitoring of fax machine and distribution of faxes, obtain outside records/labs.</li><li>
Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.</li><li>
Carries out medical asepsis when performing skills and tasks including but not limited to phlebotomy, peripheral IV removal, &amp; Foley catheter removal and cares for patients who are medically isolated.</li><li>
Performs simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as enemas, preoperative preparation of the skin, dressing changes, collecting specimens, applying binders, braces, etc.</li><li>
Performs special duties as taught and directed by the nurse in charge including but not limited to phlebotomy, ECG lead/12 lead placement, and brace/pin site cares.</li><li>
Assists with patient admission, transfers, and discharges.</li><li>
Directly provides for patients' personal hygiene and comfort.</li><li>
Turns, positions, and ambulates patients.</li><li>
Transports patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies.</li><li>

 Function as an Advanced Practice Nurse and change agent incorporating the primary role of nurse practitioner and the supporting roles of consultant, educator, researcher, and administrator to support quality care and positive patient outcomes for the Weight Management Clinic. This growing outpatient practice incorporates a multidisciplinary approach to patient care involving physicians, mid-level providers, dieticians, and certified diabetes educators to treat patients with obesity. Guidehealth is a fully remote company. We provide new employees with the necessary equipment to function in their role at no charge to the employee. Utilization Management Registered Nurse

 The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant (RA). The RA will assist in animal care for disease models involving bay, after hours, and weekend work. Animal care involves close monitoring, significant animal handling, feeding, implementation of a clinical plan, and assisting in reproductive technologies. Performing select bioassays are required for the care of disease animals. Execute planned research activities using observation, measurement and analytical techniques.
 
 
 
 Other Duties To Include
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Perform experimental procedures in mice, maintain records of drug treatments and rearing conditions, and record and consolidate data. Carry out animal colony maintenance, setting up breeders, weaning, collecting ear punches for genotyping using TransNetyx, and separating animals based on sex. Ability to carry out standard molecular biology techniques, including cell culture. Maintain detailed records of all the tasks, manage day-to-day lab maintenance activities, including but not limited to inventory logs, autoclave consumables, waste management etc.

 Prepare data for analysis and assist in research and writing for the publication of manuscripts.
 </li>
 <li>
 Assist in the maintenance of lab equipment.
 </li>

 Supervision is received from a designated official. Functional supervision may be exercised over support staff and students.

The University of Iowa Health Care's Department of Nursing is seeking a Patient Care Technician in the Adult Neurology/Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (2BT) to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses. This unit is part of the Medical Surgical Services (MSS) Division.
The non-vascular neurology unit on 2 BT is a 9-bed acute adult unit for patients with neurological disorders including, but not limited to, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune neuropathies, myasthenia gravis, headache/facial pain, and movement disorders. The unit is also home to the only Level 4 Epilepsy Center in the state of Iowa, providing the highest level of epilepsy care in the United States. 2 BT utilizes video EEG monitoring for continuous, advanced observation of epilepsy patients.
Patients are cared for by a multidisciplinary team that are focused on the patient and restoring their health. Due to the relatively small size of the unit, working on 2 BT provides a great learning environment for the complexity of the neuroscience specialty. The strong sense of teamwork makes this unit appealing to staff with all levels of experience. The leadership team is supportive of continuing education and role-advancement, helping staff grow personally and professionally.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.</li><li>
Carries out medical asepsis when performing skills and tasks including but not limited to phlebotomy, peripheral IV removal, &amp; Foley catheter removal and cares for patients who are medically isolated.</li><li>
Performs simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as enemas, preoperative preparation of the skin, dressing changes, collecting specimens, applying binders, braces, etc.</li><li>
Performs special duties as taught and directed by the nurse in charge including but not limited to phlebotomy, ECG lead/12 lead placement, and brace/pin site cares.</li><li>
Assists with patient admission, transfers, and discharges.</li><li>
Directly provides for patients' personal hygiene and comfort.</li><li>
Turns, positions and ambulates patients.</li><li>
Transports patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies.</li><li>
Feeds patients, serves drinking water and nourishments, and records patients' intake.</li><li>
 Assists patients with bedpans and urinals and records output.</li><li>
Participates in nursing care conferences; reports pertinent patient information and incidents to nurse in charge.</li><li>
Provides for patient comfort measures through social interactions.</li><li>
Shares responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies, and for neatness and cleanliness of unit.</li><li>
May assemble and maintain equipment and supplies in preparation for various diagnostic or treatment procedures performed by physicians or nurse.</li><li>
Cleans areas per designated guidelines and standards demonstrating proper use of approved disinfectants, cleaning products, and care of the housekeeping equipment</li><li>
Stock and supply patient rooms and nursing units.</li></ul>
Percent of Time: 60% - 24 hours per week 
Schedule: Day Shift, hours will be between 0700 - 1930, weekend and holiday rotations as assigned
