<div>Phlebotomists are health care professionals who have been trained to collect patient&rsquo;s blood specimens by venipuncture and by micro collection techniques</div>
 <div><ul><li>Performing the work, which is assigned, ensuring that it meets all standards as required by ISO 15189:2022/EIAC Standards/JCI/regulatory bodies (DOH/DHA/MOH where applicable).
</li><li>Perform Blood Draws: Collect blood specimens from patients using venipuncture, capillary, or fingerstick methods.
</li><li>Patient Identification: Verify patient information and ensure correct labelling of samples to avoid errors.
</li><li>Prepare and Maintain Equipment: Ensure all necessary tools and equipment are sterile, organized, and properly functioning.
</li><li>Patient Comfort and Care: Ensure a calm, safe, and comfortable environment for patients, addressing any concerns or anxieties.
</li><li>Maintain Cleanliness: Follow proper hygiene protocols, maintaining cleanliness in work areas and equipment.
</li><li>Record and Document Information: Accurately document patient information, procedures performed, and specimens collected.
</li><li>Transport Samples: Safely and efficiently transport specimens to the appropriate laboratories for analysis.
</li><li>Follow Safety Protocols: Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the handling and disposal of biohazard materials.
</li><li>Monitor Patient Reactions: Observe patients during and after procedures for any adverse reactions and report concerns to supervisors.
</li><li>Communicate with Medical Staff: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and laboratory technicians to ensure accurate and timely results.
</li><li>Maintain Confidentiality: Protect patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines regarding personal health information. 
</li></ul>General Responsibilities
<ul><li>Work in all shifts as scheduled by the Laboratory Director.
</li><li>Strictly adheres to organization&rsquo;s regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient safety, OSHAD, DOH, JCI and ISO.
</li><li>Supports Continuous Quality Improvement and participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service.
</li><li>Participates and contributes to scheduled in-service training programs.
</li><li>Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, associates and Management
</li><li>Maintains confidentiality as per the agreement signed.
</li><li>Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
</li><li>Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for them.
</li><li>Carries out other duties when requested by the Laboratory Director 
</li></ul>Occupational Safety and health and infection control Roles &amp; Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Familiarize themselves and comply with all OSH and Infection Control policies, standards and procedures that are relevant for their workplace.
</li><li>Work in accordance with the documented occupational, safety and health procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities defined in individual procedures and instructions.
</li><li>Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems and follow safe working procedures.
</li><li>Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
</li><li>Not wilfully or recklessly endanger anyone's health and safety. Take reasonable care for the health and safety of persons that may be affected by the employee&rsquo;s acts or omissions at the workplace.
</li><li>Assist with the preparation of risk assessments.
</li><li>Attend applicable departmental safety training and follow OSHMS policies and procedures.
</li><li>Take reasonable care of their own health and safety.
</li><li>Cooperate with their employer with respect to any action taken by the employer to comply with OSHMS requirements.
</li><li>Identify, label and maintain hazardous materials, MSDS and its current inventory.
</li><li>Proper collection, Storage and disposal of needle, sharps and hazardous materials as per NMCSH Waste management policy
</li><li>Ensure the safe use of all laboratory equipment such as BSC, Microtome, Stainer, autoclave, centrifuge as per manufacturer instruction.
</li><li>Must be familiar with the concept of hazard and biohazardous materials, safe handling of biohazardous materials present in the working section.
</li><li>Must be familiar with ergonomic, sharps and biological hazards in work area and how to handle them.
</li><li>Should be familiar with MSDS to determine health hazards, and routes of exposures for chemicals.
</li><li>Know the CODE Brown policy and other applicable laboratory policies and procedures. 
</li></ul>Prevention and Control of Infection (PCI):
<ul><li>PCI is everyone&rsquo;s responsibility. All staff are required to read and implement the NMC PCI Policy and Strategy in an effort to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness at all times, thus reducing the risk of infection in patients, staff and visitors.
</li></ul>The strictest hand hygiene, 5 moments of hand hygiene, bare below the elbows and environmental care, will be expected of all staff, including the post holder, at all times</div>
 <div><ul><li>Certificate of training in an approved Phlebotomy program or Diploma (1 year) Medical Laboratory Technology or Degree in any health-related field.
</li><li>Minimum of one (1) year practical experience as Phlebotomist in a reputed Medical Laboratory Not less than two (2) years of Medical Laboratory experience.
</li><li>Currently licensed in country of origin and with DOH/DHA/MOH license to practice in UAE.
</li><li>Fluent in spoken &amp; written English, Arabic language is desirable, but not essential.
</li><li>Ability to learn and handle automation &amp; IT programs is desirable but not essential.
