 The Post-doc will be supervised by Professor Samreen Malik and will be part of a research team that works on issues related to development of human capital as well as climate and sustainable development. Some of the topics of interest include how better air quality improves student's health and non-cognitive functions; sleep patterns of children and its relation to their academic achievement; whether households in low income countries adopt water saving technology to overcome water scarcity; whether cleaning air in workplaces impacts worker's productivity. Many of the projects will involve public and private partnership in the UAE and in other countries and the post-doc will be useful for the UAE based partnership, holding meetings, convincing potential partners to collaborate, and present work to the partners and academics. As part of the team, the post-doc will work full-time as co-author on Dr. Malik's projects. The post-doc will also provide Malik&rsquo;s team of researchers and faculty with Data Analytics, Data visualization, Data Management, coding &amp; development and support of research design. As part of Malik&rsquo;s team, there will be hands on experience to learn research methods, experimental designs, tools specifically applied to research in social science but more importantly the post-doc will be involved from the initial stages of project allowing an independent experience of carrying out research from start till end.

Path 2: Postdoctoral Associate – Data Analytics (Economics)

 We are seeking Post-Doctoral Associates who are passionate about Data Science, with an emphasis in Computational Social Science, with a starting date of September 1, 2026. Some of the possible research topics include: (i) social media analysis, (ii) collaboration and teamwork, (iii) gender inequality, (iv) diversity, (v) online controlled experiments, and (vi) network science.
 
 
 The ideal candidate is self-motivated and hard-working with a PhD in Data Science, Computational Social Science, Computer Science, or Information Science, with no more than five years post receipt of the PhD. The position requires experience with at least one of the following: Data Science, Machine Learning, Computational Social Science, Big Data. Relevant skills could include statistical analysis, data management and collection, causal inference, network analysis, graph theory, visualizations, and online tool development. Experience in conducting online controlled experiments is also desired, but not required. Excellent communication skills in English, ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential.
 
 
 Selected candidates will spend half their time on collaborative research with Bedoor AlShebli, an Assistant Professor in Computational Social Science in the Social Science Division at NYUAD, and half their time on independent research. The selected candidate will receive an appointment for three years. The position provides salary higher than internationally competitive rates for Post-Doctoral / Research Engineering / Research Associate positions, in addition to substantial benefits (generous housing, transportation and travel allowances, educational subsidies for children), together with full health insurance and retirement contributions. We use large real-world complex datasets, including data extracted from electronic health records and medical images, for applications pertaining to patient diagnostics and prognostics.

Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Engineering (Electrical and Computer Engineering) - Dr. Farah Shamout

 The Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit Research Scientist to work on advanced sustainable functionalized membranes for desalination and water treatment, under the supervision of Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of the Water Research Center and Global Professor of Engineering.
 
 
 The successful applicant will drive an exciting project on developing functionalized membrane materials to tailor sustainable antifouling hybrid ultrafiltration membranes and antibacterial nanofiltration or reverse osmosis membranes for desalination and water purification. The candidate will explore advanced membrane fabrication techniques and characterization tools (SEM, AFM, Raman, TEM, DSC, XRD, FTIR, TGA, BET, etc.) to correlate fabrication-structure-property-performance of novel nanomaterials with sustainable membranes for desalination and water purification via separation processes. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists and engineers, graduate students, and undergraduate students.
 
 
 The successful applicant will manage the project and work closely with postdoctoral researchers, establish deep technical knowledge, and develop transferable skills. He/she will actively be involved in developing novel concepts and writing research proposals. He/she will work on solving complex problems with efficiency and creativity. He/she will be involved in writing progress reports, authoring peer-reviewed publications, drafting patents, and presenting results at national and international conferences. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate his expertise in assessing antibacterial and antibiofouling properties of nanomaterials, membrane fabrications, sewage water treatment, life cycle assessment, and separation processes. He/she will be detail-oriented and well-organized and will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team.
 
 
 Applicants must have a PhD in materials science and engineering, environmental chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field, along with at least 6 years of relevant post-PhD research experience along with extensive research and publication in well-known journals and conference papers or similar research accomplishments. Analytical characterization skills and excellent experimental expertise relevant to assessing the antibacterial and antibiofouling properties of diversified sustainable membranes are required. Candidates with a history of peer-reviewed publications in a related research area and prior expertise in materials science, environmental chemistry, and water treatment will be preferred.

INSEAD Research Support Service provides academic staff with a range of support for their research across the full research lifecycle, including dedicated support for accessing EU and International funding. The job holder will work with the Associate Director of Research Services to support and coordinate INSEAD ongoing projects from the pre to the post-award phases while ensuring that the corresponding financial and narrative reporting obligations are delivered to the consortium in a timely and coordinated manner.

 The Center for Technology, Economics, and Development (CTED) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications from individuals to be appointed as a Junior Research Scientist (AI-Blockchain Project) for a one-year period, with the possibility of renewal conditional on excellent performance.
 
 
 The Junior Research Scientist (AI-Blockchain Research) will support advanced, quantitatively intensive research at CTED with a primary focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, mathematical modeling, and computational analysis. The Junior Research Scientist will play a central role in supporting research design, algorithmic development, data analysis, and coding tasks across CTED&rsquo;s interdisciplinary projects. Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Yaw Nyarko, and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI), Dr. Ra&scaron;a Karapand&zcaron;a, the Junior Research Scientist will contribute to AI-driven and blockchain-enabled research related to commodities markets and economic development. The role requires strong foundations in mathematics and computer science, including statistical learning, optimization, simulation, and algorithmic reasoning. The successful candidate will use programming and computational tools (including Python, MATLAB, and related libraries) to develop, test, and evaluate machine learning models; review, proofread, and execute formal mathematical proofs; implement optimization and simulation-based methods; and analyze large and complex datasets. Responsibilities include supporting experimental and field-based research, preparing literature reviews, translating complex AI and mathematical findings into clear written outputs, and contributing to research reports, concept notes, and academic publications.
 
 
 Candidates must hold a Master&rsquo;s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field (e.g., Economics with a strong mathematics background). and have less than five years of relevant research experience; or hold a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in a relevant field with any level of research experience. Applicants must have extensive coding experience, and preferably, applicants will have experience conducting field research in emerging countries and working on randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Applicants with experience working in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and/or MATLAB, a strong interest in economic and quantitative research and the willingness to learn about the blockchain, are encouraged to apply. Experience in web development, blockchain, commodities markets, and technology and economic development will be considered a plus. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment, working autonomously, but as a team member under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
