 The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seek to recruit a Postdoctoral Associate to work on a fascinating project focused on the development machine-learning powered digital twin system for the structural performance of civil engineering structures. The project is a collaboration between multiple research groups led primarily by Professor Tarek Abdoun and Professor Mostafa Mobasher. It involves a diverse range of activities including: structural and geotechnical modeling, machine-learning model development, structural sensing and health monitoring, conducting physical experiments, and validation of computational models.
 
 
 
 Required Qualifications
 
 
 
 A successful applicant must have a PhD in Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or Mechanical Engineering, and is still within their first 5 years since receiving their PhD. Applicants are expected to demonstrate research experience in the fields of structural modeling and machine-learning model development.

 This project aims at developing an implantable self-powered cardiac stimulation system, which features energy harvesting from the motion of heart, power management, wireless communication, and recording of cardiac activities. The proposed system utilizes a stretchable transducer that converts the movement to electricity, which is rectified and converted to DC power by the IC. This power is managed and provided to other system components. One of them is an electrical stimulator that provides electric charges to the tissue, i.e. heart tissue in this specific case. All the stimulation parameters, including current amplitude, polarity, time, and frequency, are programmable via wireless communication. In order to ensure the safe operation of the implant, the system includes multiple recording channels of electrical signals and electrochemical signals. This project will involve the design, fabrication, and experimental validation of ICs that include various blocks, including energy harvesting, stimulation, recording, communication, and power management. This system can be applied to cardiac stimulation, brain stimulation, and also peripheral nerve stimulation.

Post-Doctoral Associate/ Associate Research Scientist in the Center for Astrophysics and Space Science - Dr. Andrea Maccio

 Mubadala Arabian Center for Climate and Environmental Sciences (ACCESS) at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit an Associate Research Scientist to investigate the molecular and genomic mechanisms underpinning the extraordinary heat tolerance of Arabian Gulf corals, the most thermally resilient corals on Earth.
 
 
 The successful candidate will lead an ambitious research program focused on understanding how individual corals and populations vary in their responses to heat stress. This work will involve the application of genomic and gene expression profiling, as well as eco-physiological assays, to reveal the mechanistic basis of thermal resilience. The position is uniquely placed to bridge fundamental molecular research with applied conservation through close collaboration with another postdoctoral researcher who is leading a selective breeding program for heat-tolerant corals. Together, these efforts will support the development of robust coral populations capable of withstanding intensifying climate-related stressors.
 
 
 Applicants must hold a PhD in biological sciences, molecular ecology, genetics, or a related field, completed by January 2024. They must also possess advanced SCUBA certification with demonstrated research-diving experience, as well as strong proficiency in molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics, and statistical analysis. Experience conducting coral heat-stress assays and a record of first-author publications relevant to the field are essential. Preferred qualifications include a driver&rsquo;s license in the applicant&rsquo;s home country, boat-operator certification, and scientific diver credentials such as AAUS certification.  The Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position. The appointment is for 15 months. The successful candidate will contribute to a funded research project focused on the design, fabrication, and evaluation of advanced electrospun nanofiber scaffolds loaded with complex regenerative bioactives (e.g., stem cells, exosomes, peptides, and growth factors) for applications in skin regeneration, wound healing, and cosmeceuticals. The selected candidate will be actively involved in fabrication of nanofibers using blend and coaxial electrospinning techniques, loading and stabilization of drugs and sensitive biologics and within nanofiber systems, formulation of nanoparticles such as nanovesicles and nanoemulsions and polymeric nanoparticles, physicochemical and biological characterization of nanoparticles, In vitro and in vivo evaluation of nanoparticles, as well as manuscript preparation and dissemination of research findings. Selection will be based on academic qualifications, relevant research experience, and demonstrated alignment with the project objectives. Applicants should submit:

 Proven hands-on experience in electrospinning techniques

 Strong background in nanoparticles fabrication and characterization
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience in nanofibers preparation and characterization
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Preferred Qualification
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Demonstrated expertise in coaxial (core-shell) electrospinning
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience in encapsulation of biologics (e.g., exosomes, peptides, growth factors)
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience with biopolymers and biodegradable materials (e.g., PCL, PLGA, gelatin)
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience with cell culture and/or stem cell handling
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong publication record in relevant fields
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative research environment
