Materials Inspector

Parsons is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Materials Inspector to join our team! In this role, you will support site supervision efforts by conducting inspections of ongoing construction activities, ensuring adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of workmanship and reporting any issues to the supervisory team.
What You'll Be Doing:
<ul><li>Conducting routine site inspections to verify construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
</li><li>Monitoring daily site progress and reporting deviations from planned works to the Senior Works Inspector or Resident Engineer.
</li><li>Ensuring that construction materials and workmanship meet specified requirements.
</li><li>Reviewing and verifying material deliveries and storage for compliance with project standards.
</li><li>Coordinating with contractors and site personnel to ensure timely completion of activities and address any technical or quality-related issues.
</li><li>Preparing and maintaining inspection records, daily reports, and other documentation required by the project.

<ul><li>Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from a recognized institution (subject to approval by the Engineer).
</li><li>10 years of relevant experience in construction inspection or supervision, ideally on infrastructure or civil projects at least 5 years in a consultancy environment.
</li><li>Good understanding of construction methods, technical drawings, and material specifications.
</li><li>Familiarity with local and international standards and codes related to construction and quality assurance.
</li><li>Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
</li><li>Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team on-site.
</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic reporting tools.
</li><li>Effective written and spoken English communication skills.

What You'll Be Doing:
<ul><li>The Road Inspector under general supervision, performs difficult and sometimes complex inspection tasks. Inspects various facets of work on the construction site and performs continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Documents nonconformance and may participate in determining appropriate resolution.
</li><li>Keeps records of work carried out in the field. Reporting non-compliance to the Site Engineer. Keeping field records of site resources.
</li><li>Advises Site Engineer of any site events that are likely to impede progress or cause non-compliance.
</li><li>Keeps Safety Engineer informed of risky activities and non-compliance in the field.
</li><li>Accepts approved requests for inspection from the Site Engineer and attends the site to witness tests to ensure compliance with the specification.
</li><li>Checks contractor's materials on site and proper storage and handling on site.
</li><li>Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
</li></ul>What Required Skills You'll Bring:
<ul><li>Diploma in Civil Engineering with minimum of eight (8) years extensive experience in asphalt work on major roads and highway projects.
</li><li>Must possess the ability to read working drawings and related specifications and capable of enforcing such specifications.
