SR. HSE ENGINEER

Primary Purpose Of The Job

The Sr. HSE Engineer leads the delivery of specialist expertise on all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) matters within the Department, ensuring that all activities, projects, and operations fully comply with applicable QatarEnergy Standards, international HSE regulations, and project-specific requirements. The role provides strategic guidance, oversight, and technical support to promote a safe working environment and to drive continuous improvement in HSE performance across all departmental functions.

Required Experience And Skills

• 15+ years’ HSE experience in major oil & gas projects, including offshore; at least 5 years in a senior HSE role.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, environmental requirements, and international safety standards (offshore focused).
• Experience developing project HSE plans, philosophies, and risk registers.
• Skilled in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and driving lessons learned.
• Lead auditor experience in major HSE audits and reviews.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide HSE teams and large contractor groups.
• Excellent English communication skills (written & spoken).
• Gulf region experience preferred.
• Prior experience as HSE Lead within a Project Management Team (PMT).
  
  

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline from an internationally recognized University. Master’s degree is preferable.
• Membership of a recognized professional engineering or HSE association/institution is required.
