Lead Engineer (Platform & Delivery)

This is a remote position.

We are looking for an Engineering Lead (Platform & Delivery) to own day-to-day technical execution and delivery flow across the engineering function. This role serves as the technical anchor of the team, accountable for codebase health, quality standards, and production outcomes.

Work moves through a Kanban system , and success depends on predictable delivery and disciplined execution rather than individual heroics.

This is a deeply hands-on role. You will write production code, enforce automated quality in an environment without dedicated QA, and mentor other engineers while modeling strong ownership and technical judgment.

What You’ll Do

• Own Delivery Flow: Ensure engineering work moves predictably from concept through production within a Kanban system
  

• Maintain Codebase Health: Own architecture decisions, manage technical debt, and keep the codebase clean and maintainable
  

• Enforce Quality Standards: Build and uphold strong automated testing and quality practices without reliance on manual QA
  

• Ship Reliably: Balance speed and rigor to deliver high-quality systems with minimal defects or rework
  

• Lead by Example: Write production-ready code and model disciplined engineering practices
  

• Mentor the Team: Coach and guide engineers through feedback, pairing, and technical leadership
  

• Use AI Deliberately: Leverage GenAI tools such as Cursor to accelerate development while preserving engineering judgment
  

• Own Outcomes: Take accountability for system stability, production issues, and long-term reliability
  

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves

• Strong cloud engineering experience, including AWS and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  

• Senior-level full-stack development experience with Node.js , React , integrations, and data modeling
  

• Demonstrated ownership of delivery and flow within a Kanban-based environment
  

• Quality- and reliability-focused engineering mindset with strong testing discipline
  

• Hands-on experience using GenAI tools in day-to-day development with sound judgment
  

• Proven technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching experience
  

• Strong ownership, decision-making ability, and accountability for outcomes
  

• Clear communication and collaboration across engineering and product partners

• Shopify platform development experience, including custom apps, APIs, webhooks, checkout, and payments
  

• Experience operating in environments without dedicated QA
  

• Prior responsibility for production systems with meaningful operational complexity
