The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description This position is situated in the Office of Court Administration (OCA) Counsel’s Office. Duties include, but are not limited to: (1) Assisting with all trial and appellate litigation conducted by Counsel’s Office, including litigation in federal and state court and before federal and state agencies involving Unified Court System (UCS) policies, practices and personnel. (2) Analyzing complex legal issues and questions presented by proposed administrative rules and legislation. <div><div><div>The Civilian Complaint Review Board (&ldquo;CCRB&rdquo;) is charged with investigating, mediating, and prosecuting complaints which members of the public file against New York City police officers alleging the use of force, abuse of authority, discourtesy, offensive language, untruthful statements made by officers, and racial profiling and biased policing. The Board consists of 15 members who are appointed by the Mayor, the City Council and Public Advocate or designated by the police commissioner. The Board is responsible for governing the agency. The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the agency. As the largest police oversight agency in the United States, the CCRB currently investigates approximately 4,500 complaints each year.<br>

The CCRB&rsquo;s Administrative Prosecution Unit prosecutes cases in which the CCRB Board substantiated a complaint and recommended that charges be brought against the subject officer. Currently, the unit is headed by a Chief Prosecutor and two Deputy Chief Prosecutors; and staffed with ten prosecutors; a Supervising Trial Preparation Assistant and two Trial Preparation Assistants; and two Administrative Assistants. The Trial Preparation Assistant will report to the APU's Chief Prosecutor, Deputy Chief Prosecutor and Supervising Trial Preparation Assistant.<br>

 WMG&rsquo;s corporate Legal Department is located at corporate headquarters in NYC (and also in London) and supports WMG&rsquo;s recorded music labels, music publishing companies and all operating companies and departments in various legal matters, including litigation and claims, digital licensing, mergers and acquisitions, anti-piracy, securities, compliance and employment.

 This position is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of the litigations and pre-litigation claims affecting a global music entertainment company and its affiliated record labels and music publishing companies. In this role, you will not only handle some of the most cutting-edge legal issues facing the music industry, but you will also work closely with Legal &amp; Business Affairs at the record labels and music publishing companies, Business Development, Brand Partnerships &amp; Licensing, Marketing, Promotion, Finance, Insurance, People, Royalties, and many other departments to develop a well-rounded experience in the music industry.

   Lead a large and diverse docket of litigations relating to the legal issues affecting the music industry, including copyright, artificial intelligence, name/image/likeness rights, trademark, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), fair use and defamation.
  </li>
  <li>
   Review and edit draft court filings, assist with litigation discovery, including document collection and witness preparation, and analyze recording agreements, music publishing agreements, and other agreements.
  </li>
  <li>
   Provide legal advice and guidance to WMG&rsquo;s record labels and music publishing companies and departments including Business Development, Brand Partnerships &amp; Licensing, Marketing, Promotion, Finance, Insurance, People and Royalties.
  </li>
  <li>
   Investigate digital services, websites, mobile apps, and other businesses that use Warner Music Group sound recordings, musical compositions, and artwork without a license, collect evidence of infringement, confirm WMG&rsquo;s rights, draft cease-and-desist letters, and negotiate and draft settlement agreements.
  </li>
  <li>
   Interact with WMG&rsquo;s internal business units and senior executives, outside and opposing counsel, artist and songwriter representatives, music industry trade associations, and infringing services.

   Rock star candidates will have:

   A JD, active NY law license, and 3-6 years of experience practicing law.
  </li>
  <li>
   Familiarity with music law and the various rights affecting sound recordings and musical compositions.
  </li>

   Strong interpersonal skills to successfully collaborate with outside attorneys, senior management, and internal employees.
  </li>
  <li>
   Self-motivation, with the ability to work independently, follow deadlines, effectively manage time, and multi-task.

  <li>
   Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  </li>
  <li>
   Ability to conduct yourself in the highest ethical manner and exhibit professional demeanor and sound judgment.

 Salary Range

 $170,000 to $180,000
 <br/>

 Salary ranges are included for job postings where required by law. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as work experience and business needs. The pay range is subject to change at any time dependent on a variety of internal and external factors.
