Overview: 
The Illinois Secretary of State&rsquo;s Office is seeking an innovative Social Media Manager to help manage and support the office&rsquo;s social media presence with creative, engaging content. This role is responsible for developing strategies to promote the programs, services and key initiatives of the office, capture the public&rsquo;s attention, expand the office&rsquo;s digital reach across a variety of platforms.
 
The ideal candidate will bring an engaging and dynamic approach to messaging, using data-driven insights to connect with diverse and engaged audiences while maintaining a consistent and impactful online presence. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Social Media Strategy Development
<ul><li>Create and implement social media strategies that align with the office&rsquo;s communication goals</li><li>
focusing on audience engagement and advocacy of key initiatives
</li></ul></li><li>Content Creation &amp; Writing<ul><li>
Write, edit, and schedule compelling social media posts</li><li>
Assist in producing multimedia elements&mdash;images, videos, and graphics to drive audience engagement and maintain brand consistency</li></ul></li><li>
Content Calendar Management<ul><li>
Oversee the creation and maintenance of a social media content calendar to ensure a consistent flow of posts across all platforms</li><li>
Manage the timely and strategic scheduling of content to support campaigns, initiatives, and special events</li></ul></li><li>
Platform Management<ul><li>
Manage the office&rsquo;s social media presence on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok, tailoring content to each platform&rsquo;s audience and features</li></ul></li><li>
Campaign Development &amp; Execution<ul><li>
Lead the creation and execution of social media campaigns, using creative content, storytelling, and strategic messaging to increase engagement and promote key events</li></ul></li><li>
Analytics &amp; Reporting<ul><li>
Use social media analytics tools to track performance metrics, evaluate the success of campaigns, and provide actionable insights to improve engagement and effectiveness</li></ul></li><li>
Trendspotting &amp; Innovation<ul><li>
Stay updated on social media trends, emerging platforms, and best practices, bringing fresh ideas to ensure the office&rsquo;s content is timely, innovative, and relevant</li></ul></li><li>
Collaboration<ul><li>
Work closely with the Communications and Public Engagement teams to ensure social media content aligns with broader messaging, branding, and campaigns</li></ul></li><li>
Brand Consistency<ul><li>
Maintain a consistent and authentic voice across all social media platforms that aligns with the Illinois Secretary of State&rsquo;s mission, values, and public-facing initiatives</li></ul></li></ul>
Required Skills and Qualifications:<ul><li><div><ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience</li><li>
Minimum of 3 years of experience in social media strategy, content creation, or digital marketing</li><li>
Proven ability to create high-quality, engaging social media content tailored to different platforms and audiences.</li><li>
Experience managing content calendars and ensuring timely and strategic scheduling of posts and campaigns.</li><li>
Expert knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube, TikTok) and content formats, with the ability to tailor messaging to each platform&rsquo;s strengths.</li><li>
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and creative content that resonates with diverse audiences.</li><li>
Proficiency with social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights).</li><li>
Proficiency in content creation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva, and video editing software.</li><li>
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and content streams in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>
Analytical mindset with the ability to use data insights to refine strategies and improve engagement.</li></ul></div></li></ul>
