ABOUT THE POSITION
The Academic Support Center (ASC) at The Chicago School is hiring a Learning Specialist to serve as a vital component in the holistic academic support system for students in the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (IllinoisCOM). This role will also support pre-professional students enrolled in the Master of Science in Biomedical Science program in the College of Graduate and Professional Studies, as well as other students enrolled at The Chicago School.
The Learning Specialist will work collaboratively to ensure the delivery of effective student-centered academic support services. The Learning Specialist will provide supplemental academic skills instruction for students enrolled in classroom, online, and/or laboratory courses in a variety of formats such as one-on-one sessions, group sessions, peer mentor sessions, and seminars in multiple modalities. The ideal candidate will possess experience supporting pre-professional or medical students, knowledge of learning theories, and proficiency with educational technologies for support adult learners.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Academic Support and Learning, the Learning Specialist will collaborate closely with Library Staff, faculty, administrators, and other institutional stakeholders to help support the academic success and development of pre-professional and osteopathic medical students. This position is in-person at The Chicago Campus with some opportunities for remote work.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
 
Individual Student Support
<ul><li>Work one-on-one with students to assess and identify learning needs and gaps, connected to STEM reasoning
</li><li>Develop and monitor holistic and individualized academic coaching plans in both synchronous and asynchronous modalities
</li><li>Make data-driven recommendations to optimize individual student learning strategies, including using student assessments to guide individualized planning
</li><li>Assist students in developing strategies for academic resilience, time management, organization, and study habits
</li><li>Refer students for additional support services, such as subject area tutoring, mental health counseling, or further evaluation, as appropriate 
 
</li></ul>STEM Reasoning and Research Support
<ul><li>Support Bachelor and Master-level students in preparing for medical and health professions applications, including the MS in Biomedical Sciences, IllinoisCOM, and additional programs under development
</li><li>Assist students in developing quantitative, scientific, and medical reasoning skills through workshops, course interventions, and resource creation.
</li><li>Advise and coach students on quantitative methodologies, statistical analysis, and Qualtrics engagement
</li><li>Create and maintain collaborative peer-based study groups
</li><li>Support faculty members in research planning, pedagogical choices for STEM instruction, and course development
</li><li>Hire, train, and supervise a limited number of Federal Work Study peer quantitative consultants
</li></ul>Academic Support Center Collaborations &amp; Development
<ul><li>Collaboratively develop and facilitate interactive workshops, webinars, and interventions aimed at enhancing student learning and holistic success.
</li><li>Develop resources, including guides, tutorials, and other materials to support diverse learning needs and ensure equity in student success.
</li><li>Serve as a liaison between the ASC and IllinoisCOM, and other institutional stakeholders to address student academic concerns and shape supportive policies and academic support strategies.
</li><li>Collaborate with institutional and College committee to ensure that students engage ethically with Artificial Intelligence and emergent technologies
</li><li>Collaborate with ASC staff to co-create and implement comprehensive academic support strategies to promote student success across all academic programs
</li><li>Collaborate with the Associate Director of Academic Support and Learning to establish data-driven strategic initiatives, assess program effectiveness, and recommend improvements.

</li></ul>Basic Qualifications:
<ul><li>Master&rsquo;s degree in biological sciences, education, educational psychology, statistics, or a related field.
</li><li>Minimum of three years of experience in teaching and creating effective study strategies, time management, test-taking skills, and other academic success techniques for adult learners.
</li><li>Familiarity with quantitative reasoning, skills, abilities, and assessments
</li><li>Strong track record of developing and delivering training sessions and workshops for diverse audiences.
</li><li>Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, with attention to educational assessments used to inform instructional decisions

Those hired must have a background in African American, American, women and gender studies, anthropology, social history, economics, politics, STEM/medicine, the arts, library or information science or other related fields and will work as part of a publishing team that will process and add 40-45 interviews/month to The HistoryMakers Digital Archive (each interview averages 4-6 hours in length). The person hired must have excellent writing skills. He/she must also have prior experience as a proofreader/editor and be an expert researcher and writer who can accurately describe in a concise and accurate manner the contents of each videotaped segment. The interviews cover 20th century history interviews across a wide variety of occupations, geographic areas and fields (i.e. STEM, law, art, education, music, etc.). Overview of Service Desk Analyst I: 
The L.E.K. IT Department is seeking a Service Desk Analyst I to join the team. This position will report directly to the Regional Service Desk Manager.
The Service Desk Analyst I provides excellent face to face customer service, follows instructions to deliver zero defect deployments, takes direction well, executes assigned project tasks on time, and is self-motivated. 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Providing level 1 support to the L.E.K. global staff via multiple communication channels including but not limited to phone, video, chat, in person, and email</li><li>
Troubleshooting hardware and software issues courteously and expeditiously</li><li>
Keeping inventory accurate and assessing the requirement for IT equipment</li><li>
Answering and appropriately handling customer support requests via phone, e-mail, voice mail, and instant messaging.</li><li>
Managing regional staff motion procedures such as account creation, laptop imaging and configuration, desk setup, mobile configuration, equipment distribution and collection etc.</li><li>
Liaising with regional admin or smart hands to setup/reimage laptops in remote offices when required</li><li>
Managing IT equipment upgrades for the region</li><li>
Work with supplier warranty to repair broken laptop and mobile</li><li>
Other IT related functions and projects as requested that are not limited to daily support</li></ul> 
Qualifications:
Technical Skills<ul><li>
Understanding of PCs, tablets, mobile phones, peripherals, and various operating systems including but not limited to Windows, Apple iOS, and Android</li><li>
An aptitude for acquiring technical skills and an eagerness to learn about all L.E.K. software and hardware</li></ul>

Position Summary 
 
The Department of Pathology at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a full-time academic pathologist to join our faculty with primary duties in Pathology Education. Additional experience practicing a pathology subspecialty (AP or CP) is required. Rank and tenure will be commensurate with candidate's experience and qualifications.
The UIC Department of Pathology is among the country's fastest-growing academic departments and provides a unique environment to foster the development of academic careers. Duties &amp; Responsibilities<ul><li>
This position involves providing coordination for departmental faculty involvement, curriculum, evaluation and development of programming in undergraduate medical education programing, focusing on pre-clinical medical student education. The College of Medicine utilizes active, team-based and problem-based learning, and its Department of Medical Education is the oldest and largest such department in the world. The Department of Pathology has an ACGME accredited Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency program with nineteen residents, a Clinical Informatics fellowship with four fellows, Surgical Pathology fellowships with two fellows, and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine, Cytopathology, and Hematopathology fellowships with one fellow each. Each training program has a faculty program director and dedicated program coordinator who provides administrative support.</li><li>

Qualifications: 
 
Candidates for this position must have an MD, DO, DO/PhD, MD/PhD or other equivalent degree, qualify for a license to practice medicine in Illinois, and possess board certification in AP, CP or AP/CP. The successful candidate will have an extensive background in pathology education, with experience providing pathology education in undergraduate medical education and in residency and/or fellowship programs. Interest in development or continuation of scholarly activity in education is highly desirable.
