 What you'll do
 
 
 The Legal Counsel, Data Governance &amp; Marketing Compliance will be a highly qualified, team-oriented and data-first attorney with a holistic mindset and a deep understanding of data governance principles, laws, and regulations covering a broad range of business activities. This includes privacy laws like GDPR and CCPA, strong familiarity with other global data protection laws, and marketing compliance laws and regulations. The role requires significant experience providing legal support and practical guidance on global projects and operational matters that affect data governance, privacy, and marketing practices. This is a cross-functional advisory role that involves close collaboration across the Docusign organization to support data counseling and compliance best practices for the use of broad categories of data.
 
 
 You will collaborate with a broad range of Docusign business partners, including InfoSec, Product and Engineering, Marketing, and Product Legal teams. Your role will be to advise on and implement best practices for all aspects of the data lifecycle, balancing legal risk with strategic business objectives. You will partner with product counsel to advise product engineering teams and marketing teams on the ethical and responsible use of data and strong data governance.
 
 
 Success in this role requires substantial SaaS technology experience to help support achieving scale in contract drafting, negotiation, and regulatory compliance support, particularly with customers, partners, and vendors. We are seeking a high performer who is adaptable, collaborative, loves to learn, has incorporated AI into augmenting capabilities, and operates with a high degree of integrity. The position demands a "get it done" attitude, initiative, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent change and ambiguity.

 Responsibility

 Provide legal advice and practical guidance on data governance across Docusign (e.g., Product, Engineering, Marketing, IT, etc) to ensure compliance with company standards and global laws governing privacy, consent management, data use and protection

 Over the 2.5 year project period, the new attorney will be able to field the increase in inquiries coming from the noncitizen community and work on reducing the backlog of noncitizen cases.

The Habeas Corpus Resource Center (HCRC), a San Francisco-based entity in the judicial branch of California's state government, seeks attorney applicants interested in indigent capital defense litigation.
HCRC attorneys represent people sentenced to death in post-conviction habeas corpus proceedings. We investigate and review the constitutionality of our clients&rsquo; capital convictions and sentences and file and litigate petitions alleging the ways in which our clients&rsquo; constitutional rights were violated. HCRC counsel review extensive trial records, conduct and supervise new investigation, research and prepare petitions and briefs based on state and federal case law, statutory, and constitutional law, and &ndash; in many instances &ndash; litigate those claims raised in superior court evidentiary hearings. The HCRC has an authorized staff of 88 people, including 34 attorneys. HCRC attorneys primarily practice in California&rsquo;s county superior courts, appellate district courts, and the California Supreme Court; they represent some clients in habeas corpus proceedings in federal court as well. The HCRC also serves as a resource and provides training to private court-appointed counsel in capital post-conviction proceedings.
Attorney applicants to whom the HCRC extends an offer will be classified, based on experience and relevant qualifications. Staff Attorney is the entry-level classification in the HCRC attorney job series. Under direction, staff attorneys provide representation to indigent people sentenced to death in habeas corpus proceedings. Habeas Corpus Counsel is the next classification level in the attorney job series. In addition to providing representation to capital habeas petitioners, habeas corpus counsel provide direction to, and review the work of assigned staff, serve as consultants, and perform specialized legal work. Among other things, Senior Habeas Corpus Counsel, in consultation with the case supervisor, sets case objectives and timelines, and is responsible for planning and carrying out case assignments, coordinating the work with others as necessary, and implementing strategies. For each position, travel may be required both within California and out-of-state. The minimum qualifications necessary for each of these positions are set forth below.
