Develops and supports UAE cultural orientation and integration programs for Visiting Students, both semester and short-term</li><li>

Supervises program development for local UAE-based CBGL activities</li><li>

Following up with the CBGL community partners to facilitate longer-term relationships that can lead to student internships, undergraduate research or faculty research activity</li><li>
Works with NYUAD Finance, Nirvana Travel, External Relations, Student Health Center, Student Persistence and Accessibility, and other stakeholders to develop support infrastructure for the Community-Based Global Learning programs</li><li>
Liaises with the Office of Social Responsibility initiatives on programs of cultural orientation and engagement in the UAE for contracted staff and other members of the community</li><li>
Liaises with Human Resources, Student Affairs, Community Relations, Athletics, and the NYUAD Institute on implementing UAE-focused and global programs that require interoffice cooperation</li><li>
Enhances the presence of Community-Based Learning engagements on social media platforms</li><li>

 The Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit Research Scientist to work on advanced sustainable functionalized membranes for desalination and water treatment, under the supervision of Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of the Water Research Center and Global Professor of Engineering.

 The successful applicant will drive an exciting project on developing functionalized membrane materials to tailor sustainable antifouling hybrid ultrafiltration membranes and antibacterial nanofiltration or reverse osmosis membranes for desalination and water purification. The candidate will explore advanced membrane fabrication techniques and characterization tools (SEM, AFM, Raman, TEM, DSC, XRD, FTIR, TGA, BET, etc.) to correlate fabrication-structure-property-performance of novel nanomaterials with sustainable membranes for desalination and water purification via separation processes. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists and engineers, graduate students, and undergraduate students.

 The successful applicant will manage the project and work closely with postdoctoral researchers, establish deep technical knowledge, and develop transferable skills. He/she will actively be involved in developing novel concepts and writing research proposals. He/she will work on solving complex problems with efficiency and creativity. He/she will be involved in writing progress reports, authoring peer-reviewed publications, drafting patents, and presenting results at national and international conferences. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate his expertise in assessing antibacterial and antibiofouling properties of nanomaterials, membrane fabrications, sewage water treatment, life cycle assessment, and separation processes. He/she will be detail-oriented and well-organized and will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team.

 Applicants must have a PhD in materials science and engineering, environmental chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field, along with at least 6 years of relevant post-PhD research experience along with extensive research and publication in well-known journals and conference papers or similar research accomplishments. Analytical characterization skills and excellent experimental expertise relevant to assessing the antibacterial and antibiofouling properties of diversified sustainable membranes are required. Candidates with a history of peer-reviewed publications in a related research area and prior expertise in materials science, environmental chemistry, and water treatment will be preferred.

 The Opportunity

 The Library &amp; Learning Commons Department is seeking an incumbent for the position of Administrative Officer to provide highly effective administrative and secretarial support to the department to ensure the Library and Learning Commons function efficiently. Oversees administrative needs of the Library and Learning Commons and coordinates inter-departmental meetings and activities; provides administrative assistance to senior management, librarians, archivist, and staff of the Library and Learning Commons at both campuses.

 The Responsibilities
 <br/>
 <br/>
 <ul>
  <li>
   Assists in organizing and scheduling meetings/workshops, notifies attendees of location and timing, and takes minutes and attendance for file and distribution as appropriate.
  </li>
  <li>
   Welcomes and liaises with students, faculty, staff and visitors on behalf of the Director. Listens to their concerns and decides if they need to see the director or if someone else better meets their needs. Recommends action as appropriate.
  </li>
  <li>
   Distributes internal and external correspondence effectively and efficiently.
  </li>
  <li>
   Develops and maintains electronic and paper files/folders and maintains appropriate office administration procedures.
  </li>
  <li>
   Answers all general queries and instigates appropriate response systems accordingly.
  </li>
  <li>
   Assists in organizing facilities and hospitality for Library and Learning Commons activities.
  </li>
  <li>
   Distributes general circulars and maintains files of information appropriate for the effective and efficient operations of all units at both campuses
  </li>
  <li>
   Orders stationery, supplies and equipment required by the library and the offices.
  </li>
  <li>
   Obtains quotations from vendors of equipment and supplies, prepares the documents for approval by the Director, prepares the purchase requisitions and claim forms and passes all information to the Purchasing Department for further action.
  </li>
  <li>
   Processes and keeps records of all invoices.
  </li>
  <li>
   Tracks fund expenditure and maintain logs of use through Excel and advises the Library Director and Leadership Council about the status of the budget and expenditure (Professional Development Fund, Hotel and transport funds)
  </li>
  <li>
   Maintains the Director&rsquo;s appointment calendar and reminds the Director of the appointments.
  </li>
  <li>
   Supports librarians and Learning Commons partners by booking classrooms, coordinating special events and communicating with Learning Commons partners on matters relating to facilities and services in the Learning Commons.
  </li>
  <li>
   Contributes to the Library Teams and the discussions about library policies and procedures to improve services.
  </li>
  <li>
   Engages in the Public Services unit activities, including service desk duties, which may include evenings and weekends.
  </li>
  <li>
   Liaisons with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate reporting functions as required.

   Must possess a minimum of a bachelor&rsquo;s degree or equivalent combination of education, skills and a minimum of 2 years&rsquo; experience working in a customer-focused environment.

   Must be able to multitask, as well as plan and organize events, office procedures and tracking systems.
  </li>
  <li>
   Must be responsible, extremely reliable, and able to work independently.
  </li>
  <li>
   Must be highly computer literate, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  </li>
  <li>
   Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Administrative Officer - Library & Learning Commons

 The research group of Prof. Ingyin Zaw at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking to add a Research Scientist in Extragalactic Astronomy to study the impact Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) have on their host galaxies. Applicants with a background analyzing and interpreting astrophysical data, in particular the statistical analysis of data obtained by large surveys, are encouraged to apply.  Research in the Prof. Zaw&rsquo;s group focuses AGN activity and feedback which are critical components of current theories of galaxy evolution. Project include collaborations with researchers in Physics program and Center for Astrophysics and Space Science (CASS) at NYU Abu Dhabi, as well as researchers at the Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics (CCPP) at NYU New York. Researchers are NYUAD have access to numerous high performance computing facilities, as well as access to sponsored time on several observing facilitates.

 Responsibilities of the position include using advanced statistical and Machine Learning techniques to study AGN properties, galaxy properties, and the relationships between them in large samples of galaxies, as well as participating in other research activities of the group.

 Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, in Physics, Astronomy, Astrophysics or related field, and at least 6 years of research experience (Excluding the years taken to complete their PhD). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience analyzing and interpreting astrophysical data &ndash; especially that obtained from larger surveys, and strong computational skills. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience and interest in using advanced statistical / machine learning techniques to study the correlation between variables.
