Job Description
The Student Financial Specialist assists in overseeing the College&rsquo;s Sponsor Contracts, student accounts, and cash collections. This individual is responsible for providing quality customer service to students, faculty, staff, administration, and third-party entities. Reports to the Coordinator, Student Financial Services. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Determines the student&rsquo;s individual needs; provides information to students, parents, and prospective students as appropriate.
</li><li>Interacts daily with students face-to-face, via telephone, email, and remote communication.
</li><li>Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing. Summarizes conversations to student files for future reference.
</li><li>Initiates phone calls to collect required documentation and payments.
</li><li>Empowers students to utilize online services, portals, and webpages.
</li><li>Responds to student account-related questions regarding statements, payment options, payment deadlines, tuition rates, and 1098T tax forms. Receipts incoming monies including tuition and invoice payments and departmental deposits.
</li><li>Handles confidential material and communications and adheres to FERPA.
</li><li>Refers students seeking a monthly tuition payment plan to the College&rsquo;s third-party provider. Updates installment amounts after schedule adjustments or financial aid awards are posted. Ensure all account balances are accurate prior to refund dates. Monitors data imports to student accounts for designated programs.
</li><li>Prepares itemized invoices for use of college services, facilities, workforce development, apprenticeship programs, and dual enrollment education. Keeps appropriate records and ensures payments are received in a timely manner.
</li><li>Sorts mail and performs data entry, filing, scanning, and accurate record keeping.
</li><li>Perform billing for College receivables for student accounts, third-party sponsor accounts, and government agency programs. Attain and maintain working knowledge of payor requirements as designated.
</li><li>Investigate and respond to inquiries (internal &amp; external) regarding invoice/payment status.
</li><li>Reconcile accounts and prepare Ad Hoc Payments to return funds to third-party sponsors as directed.
</li><li>Monitor receivables for non-payment, delayed payments, and other irregularities as directed.
</li><li>Research, prepare, process, and distribute College or department-required paperwork, including but not limited to student account adjustments, student statements of account, etc.
</li><li>Responsible for knowing and conforming to all safety practices and regulations that apply to this specific area and position. Unsafe conditions should be reported to the immediate supervisor and to the Pensacola State College Police Department/Public Safety.

Minimum Qualifications : Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate degree and two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience. Experience with spreadsheet/database applications. Related appropriate work experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis for the required education. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
