</div><div><p><b>The Department of Kinetic Imaging at VCUarts Qatar</b> seeks a <i>Visiting Artist</i> whose teaching and creative practice engage interdisciplinary approaches to art, design, computation, and emerging media. The position involves participating in the department as an adjunct faculty member including teaching the department&rsquo;s sophomore-level curriculum across the five primary domains of the program:</p>
<ul><li>Video &amp; Imaging (Video, Photography, Animation)</li>
<li>Spatial Media (3D modeling, Virtual Reality, 3D printing, Design Fabrication technologies).</li>
<li>Sound (Recording, Synthesis, Performance).</li>
<li>Interaction &amp; Computation (Coding, Interaction Design, Interactive Art).</li>
<li>Game Design (Video game design, Systems design, Play, World building).</li>
</ul><p>The <i>Visiting Artist</i> will contribute to a collaborative and experimental learning environment that encourages hands-on making, critical inquiry, and interdisciplinary exploration. The position supports students through studio teaching, mentorship, and participation in departmental initiatives, while contributing to the department&rsquo;s culture of creative experimentation, technological engagement, and research-informed practice.</p>
<p><b>Duties &amp; Responsibilities:</b></p>
<ul><li>Teach sophomore-level studio and lecture courses across the Department of Kinetic Imaging curriculum including the following core courses: Video Practices, Animation Practices, Sound Art, 3D Computer Art, Creative Code &amp; Electronics.</li>
<li>Teach a 15 credit course load across the academic year (typically 4-5 studio courses per year)</li>
<li>Develop and deliver course content that integrates contemporary approaches to art, design, technology, and emerging media practices.</li>
<li>Support student learning through critiques, workshops, technical demonstrations, discussions, and mentorship.</li>
<li>Assist students in developing technical, conceptual, and creative approaches to interdisciplinary media practice.</li>
<li>Participate in departmental activities including exhibitions, events, critiques, reviews, and collaborative initiatives.</li>
<li>Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students on interdisciplinary projects, initiatives, and departmental development.</li>
<li>Support safe, responsible, and effective use of departmental technologies, software, and studio resources.</li>
<li>Participate in service activities that contribute to the department, school, and university community.</li>
<li>Participate in annual review and evaluation processes.</li>
</ul><p><b>Qualifications:</b></p>
<ul><li>Master&rsquo;s degree or higher in a field related to one or more of the 5 domains of the Kinetic Imaging program:
<ul><li>Video &amp; Imaging (Video, Photography, Animation)</li>
<li>Spatial Media (3D modeling, Virtual Reality, 3D printing, Design Fabrication technologies).</li>
<li>Sound (Recording, Synthesis, Performance).</li>
<li>Interaction &amp; Computation (Coding, Interaction Design, Interactive Art).</li>
<li>Game Design (Video game design, Systems design, World building).</li>
</ul></li><li>Experience with teaching or professional practice in one or more of the 5 domains of the Kinetic Imaging program.</li>
<li>Experience working within interdisciplinary art and design contexts is preferred.</li>
<li>Demonstrated creative research, professional practice, or scholarly activity relevant to the field.</li>
<li>Strong communication, organizational, collaborative, and mentorship skills are preferred.</li>

</ul><p><b>Compensation and Benefits:</b></p>
<ul><li>Nature of appointment: Temporary adjunct appointment (non-benefited position)</li>
<li>Duration of appointment: August 2026 &ndash; May 2027</li>
<li>Total compensation for the above duration: $40,000 USD (taxable for U.S. citizens)</li>
<li>Relocation assistance may be available for the selected candidate in accordance with VCUarts Qatar policies.</li>
<li>The job offer is contingent on successful background checks and immigration clearance formalities for work visa issuance.</li>

</div><div>This opportunity is a part-time adjunct faculty position and is not eligible for benefits. However, given the scope of this role and to facilitate an on-site residency in Doha, Qatar, the successful candidate, who will be required to relocate to Qatar for this appointment, may be eligible to receive limited employer-provided support. This could include facilitation of a work visa, a round-trip economy ticket, housing leased by VCUarts Qatar, a leased vehicle, and access to local health coverage (not VCU health coverage) for the individual appointee. Any such support is provided for the appointee only and does not extend to dependents. Eligibility and specific provisions will be confirmed at the time of offer and are subject to VCUarts Qatar policies and the terms of the appointment.</div>

</div><div><p>VCUarts Qatar is seeking an adjunct instructor for the Fall 2026 semester within the Painting &amp; Printmaking program to teach the following course:</p>
<p><b>Course: PAPR 491 Q01 &ndash; Topics: Speaker Series FANOON</b></p>
<p>The course explores contemporary art through direct engagement with leading artists, curators, and cultural practitioners from Qatar, the region, and beyond. The selected adjunct faculty member will lead the seminar component, guide students through readings, research, discussions, and critical responses, and connect public artist talks with student learning and creative inquiry.</p>
<p>Throughout the semester, four to five invited speakers will present public lectures at Mathaf, followed by studio visits, workshops, conversations, and site-based engagements with enrolled students. Between guest visits, class sessions will focus on contemporary artistic practice, exhibition-making, institutional critique, and the role of artists within broader social and cultural contexts.</p>
<p>The course culminates in the collaborative production of a publication documenting and reflecting on the semester&rsquo;s discussions, encounters, and research.</p>
<p>The ideal candidate will bring expertise in contemporary art, curatorial practice, art criticism, exhibition-making, or a related field, along with a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students in a multicultural academic environment.</p>
<p><b>Position Responsibilities:</b></p>
<p>The adjunct instructor will be expected to:</p>
<ul><li>Complete all required university training (e.g., FERPA) before the first class session</li>
<li>Provide students with a course syllabus during the first class session that outlines course objectives, structure, requirements, grading criteria, and relevant policies provided by the Director</li>
<li>Enforce department and university policies in a constructive and professional manner</li>
<li>Prepare thoroughly for each class to ensure effective use of studio time in support of course learning objectives</li>
<li>Assess all assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback</li>
<li>Submit midterm and final grades according to the schedule and method provided by the university registrar</li>
<li>Attend all departmental meetings</li>
</ul><p><b>Required Qualifications:</b></p>
<ul><li>A terminal degree (MFA) in a relevant field, or a BFA with substantial additional training and/or professional experience that equates to a terminal degree.</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills</li>
<li>Enthusiasm for teaching in a multicultural environment</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.</li>
<li>Eligibility to work in Qatar or meet specific immigration/employment requirements under Qatari law.</li>
