Who we&rsquo;re looking for:
The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine &amp; Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for an Anatomic Pathology Technician with the Cytology Team at Harborview Medical Center.
Under general supervision, the Anatomic Pathology Technician is responsible for performing laboratory specimen processing, which consists of receiving, identifying, sorting, preparing and distributing cytology specimens and other laboratory work in support of technologists, faculty, and students.

</li></ul>What you&rsquo;ll contribute:
<ul><li>Receive and accession cytology specimens &ndash; accurately enter in specimen into Epic Beaker laboratory system, select correct specimen codes and lab testing orders, inspect specimens for required elements, identify ancillary test requests and forward to appropriate department, resolve specimen issues or missing testing information.
</li><li>Perform cytology gynecological processing &ndash; properly label and prepare slides using ThinPrep machine, stain slides using Papanicolaou regressive staining method, reprocess unsatisfactory Pap samples using glacial acetic acid wash method, coverslip slides without bubbles or excess mounting medium, distribute slides.
</li><li>Perform cytology non-gynecological processing &ndash; process specimens including cerebral spinal fluids, urines, brushings, fine needle aspirations, body cavity fluids, anal paps. Identify appropriate slide preparation technique based on specimen type. Prepare adequate cell blocks for histology processing.
</li><li>Archive specimens &ndash; properly archive specimens according to department procedures, discard specimens according to department defined schedule, retrieve archived specimens for reprocessing or upon request.
</li><li>Equipment and laboratory workspace maintenance &ndash; perform routine maintenance and cleaning or laboratory equipment and workspace, decontaminate and clean glassware and other lab instruments, replenish supplies from stock, check reagents for expiration dates, assist in performing inventory and order laboratory supplies, fulfill requests for specimen collection supplies and prepare shipments to clinics.
</li><li>Assist in fine needle aspiration procedures &ndash; provide assistance to cytopathology residents and fellows, prepare smeared slides and perform Diff-Quik staining.
</li><li>Daily and weekly maintenance of Papanicolaou staining setup &ndash; prepares reagents according to laboratory standard operating procedures, properly labels reagents when prepared or opened, filter and change staining setup in accordance with laboratory operating procedures.
</li><li>Respond to inquiries concerning cytology specimens &ndash; answers questions about specimen requirements, turn-around-time, and case status. Triages phone calls to other departments or staff when necessary.
</li><li>Perform related duties as required.

<ul><li>Certified, or certified within two (2) years from the date of hire, at the Technician level by a nationally recognized certifying agency such as the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Scientists or the Microscopy Society of America.

The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine &amp; Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 2 with the Ambulatory Services Team at Husky Health Center Laboratory .
In this role, you will join a team of respectful and collaborative healthcare professionals in providing outstanding direct patient care to Husky Health Center and UW Medicine patients. As a CLT 2, you will be responsible for pre-analytic laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy and specimen processing as well as performing several rapid tests on-site. This is a great professional growth opportunity for Lab Technicians, Lab Assistants, or Phlebotomists to learn and perform point of care testing, quality control and quality assurance, and basic troubleshooting. This position may rotate between the UWMC Roosevelt, UW Medicine South Lake Union, and Eastside Specialty Center clinical laboratories as needed.

<ul><li>Perform stat and routine tests utilizing kit assays and point of care devices and accurately enter test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
</li><li>Perform quality control analyses on all tests assigned and determine whether all parameters are within established ranges.
</li><li>Perform routine quality monitoring of test systems and troubleshoot, when necessary, by consulting manufacturer&rsquo;s manuals, division procedures, and requesting guidance from the MLS or Lead.
</li><li>Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and appropriately handle telephone inquiries from staff and providers.
</li><li>Perform phlebotomy on adult and pediatric patients.
</li><li>Interpret provider test orders, prioritize specimen handling based on specimen type and clinical urgency, monitor requisitions and labels for accuracy, and investigate/document errors and incomplete orders.
</li><li>Prepare and process specimens for transport and testing, storing specimens under optimal temperature conditions for the test(s) indicated.
</li><li>Exhibit a working knowledge of the lab information systems (LIS), including Sunquest and EPIC; problem-solve issues, and generate batch lists, pending logs, and exception reports, etc. to document and track specimens within the Department.
</li><li>Participate in training and demonstrate routine laboratory techniques to students and new employees.
</li><li>Monitor laboratory inventory in assigned work area and notify lead if supplies are needed and place orders, if assigned.

The Clinical Research Coordinator II is responsible for day-to-day coordination of interventional Phase I-III clinical trials and observational Cancer Control studies. The position will oversee all subject-level study workflows including screening patients for eligibility, performing enrollments, tracking patient visits, abstracting and reporting study data, coordinating research specimen collection and submission, and creating and maintaining research documentation. Collaborates with Data Coordination staff on the Clinical Research Support team.</div><div></div><div> 
Reporting to the GUMO Senior Manager of Clinical Trials Coordination, the coordinator will be part of specialized Oncology research teams. This position is key to the smooth operation of clinical trials and advancing research efforts at Fred Hutch. 60-70% of work time will be spent at the UW Medical Center Mountlake location.</div>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Conduct daily clinical operations of assigned research studies in accordance with study protocols, regulatory and GCP guidelines, and institutional policy.</li><li>
Develop and maintain tools for study implementation, including data collection tools, reference materials and specific study orders; revise and utilize tools as necessary.</li><li>
Create and disseminate study-related educational content for internal and external audiences to ensure safe and accurate protocol implementation.</li><li>
Coordinate patient enrollment and participation by reviewing study candidates&rsquo; medical records for eligibility, initiating enrollment, ensuring informed consent, and maintaining accurate enrollment records.
</li><li>Schedule patient clinic visits and on-going study visits; ensure administrative compliance with study protocols with respect to clinical procedures, laboratory tests and other patient activities; may administer study questionnaires, ensure drug self-administration accountability with patients and perform non-clinical ECGs.</li><li>
Complete clinical requisition forms as instructed, assemble kits for patient visits, transport laboratory samples and ensure samples are processed and shipped according to study guidelines; track and maintain research supplies.</li><li>
Identify, track and confirm billable activities for patients; work with internal partners to obtain and submit budget and billing information; may assist in reviewing patient charges to ensure billing compliance.</li><li>
Act as protocol liaison with clinical teams, patients, and providers on study related topics.</li><li>
Prepare and coordinate monitoring visits and respond to queries and other requests from study monitors, following up with and resolving any issues that may arise.</li><li>
Maintain thorough knowledge in the field through attending related project meetings and symposia, reading related literature and maintaining professional associations.</li><li>
May travel to attend industry-sponsored investigator meetings.</li><li>
Assist with maintaining appropriate source documentation and/or performing case report form data entry</li><li>
Travels from South Lake Union campus on shuttle to UW Medical Center Montlake to oversee transit of collected research specimens to South Lake Union for processing and shipping</li><li>

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</div><ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent.</li><li>
Minimum two to three years&rsquo; experience in a clinical research or cancer registry environment with regulatory or human research protections.</li><li>
Knowledge of clinical trials records, procedures, and computerized data processing systems.</li><li>
Demonstrated knowledge of how to synthesize study conduct.</li></ul><div>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</div><ul><li>
Associate or bachelor&rsquo;s degree preferred.</li><li>
Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) or certification as Clinical Research Professional (SOCRA).</li><li>
Five years of experience working in clinical research, preferably oncology interventional trials.</li><li>
Working understanding of applicable regulations and guidelines including FDA, ICH GCP, and HHS.</li><li>
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to problem solve and to prioritize multiple competing tasks in a dynamic environment.</li><li>
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including computer skills.</li><li>
Ability to work with multiple data management systems including generating reports and sourcing data from systems.</li><li>
Ability to extract data from medical records and apply judgement in interpreting regulations, determining impacts, and knowing when to escalate questions and concerns when appropriate.</li></ul><div>
The hourly pay range for this position is from $31.83 to $47.73 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

The Genetics Division includes faculty who collaborate with pathologists, laboratory geneticists, medical geneticists, oncologists, and researchers across UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, and Seattle Children&rsquo;s Hospital in an extremely collegial, supportive, and interactive environment.</div>

The successful candidate will serve as an associate director in the Department&rsquo;s molecular laboratories focused on oncology and genetics. Specific responsibilities will include histology slide assessment, tissue selection, molecular assay interpretation and sign out, molecular assay development and validation, participation in laboratory operations, and molecular tumor boards. Additional responsibilities include teaching residents, fellows, medical students, and medical laboratory science undergraduate students. The successful candidate is expected to develop an area of scholarship appropriate to their clinical and/or educational interests. The Genetics Division is staffed by 20 faculty who collectively sign out over 20,000 tests annually.</div>

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This position is full-time, non-tenured and remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026, but is flexible.</div>

The successful candidate will possess an MD (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified or board-eligible (or foreign equivalent) in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology or anatomic pathology. The candidate must be board-certified or board-eligible in Molecular Genetic Pathology. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. Documented expertise is required with molecular diagnostic test development, clinical interpretation of complex genomic test results, and managing the selection and analysis of tissue samples for molecular testing. A record of research, as documented by publications, is also required. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1-B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
