Position SummaryThe Roads Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for road and highway construction projects. The role involves reviewing tender documents, performing quantity take-offs, analyzing project requirements, pricing resources, and coordinating with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments to develop competitive and profitable bids.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Review and analyze tender documents, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.</li><li>Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for road and infrastructure works.</li><li>Develop cost estimates for:</li><li>Earthworks (excavation, filling, grading)</li><li>Subgrade, subbase, and road base layers</li><li>Asphalt paving and road surfacing works</li><li>Drainage and stormwater systems</li><li>Curbs, sidewalks, and interlock paving</li><li>Traffic management and road safety works</li><li>Road markings, signs, and street furniture</li><li>Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.</li><li>Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) pricing and cost breakdowns.</li><li>Analyze labor, equipment, material, and transportation costs.</li><li>Identify project risks, assumptions, and opportunities that may impact pricing.</li><li>Coordinate with engineering, planning, procurement, and construction teams during bid preparation.</li><li>Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings when required.</li><li>Prepare technical and commercial tender submissions.</li><li>Maintain and update cost databases, production rates, and market prices.</li><li>Support project teams with cost-related analysis during project execution.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.</li><li>Minimum 3&ndash;10 years of experience in estimating road, highway, and infrastructure projects.</li><li>Strong understanding of road construction methods, specifications, and industry standards.</li><li>Experience in government and private-sector tendering is preferred.</li></ul>Technical Skills<ul><li>Proficiency in quantity take-off and cost estimation techniques.</li><li>Strong knowledge of road construction materials, equipment, and productivity rates.</li><li>Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.</li><li>Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred.</li><li>Familiarity with estimation and project control software such as CCS Candy, Primavera, or equivalent.</li><li>Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.</li></ul>Soft Skills<ul><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.</li><li>Effective communication and coordination skills.</li><li>Ability to work under pressure and meet tender deadlines.</li><li>Strong organizational and time-management skills.</li><li>Commercial awareness and negotiation skills.</li></ul>Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)<ul><li>Accuracy of cost estimates versus actual project costs.</li><li>Timely submission of tenders and bids.</li><li>Tender success (win) rate.</li><li>Accuracy of quantity take-offs and BOQ pricing.</li><li>Contribution to project profitability and cost optimization.</li></ul>ObjectiveTo deliver accurate, competitive, and commercially viable cost estimates for road and highway projects, supporting successful tender submissions and profitable project execution.Pay: BD250.000 - BD300.000 per hourWork Location: In person
