We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Per-Diem, Staff Nurse (Diff Eligible) to be part of our WA Center for Apheresis Therapy team. The role will perform therapeutic apheresis procedures on adult patients and donors in-house, as well as on pediatric and adult patients at area hospitals.
 
Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to: As a Bloodworks Apheresis Staff Nurse:

<li>Perform all therapeutic procedures on the Spectra Optia, including Plasma exchanges, Red Cell exchanges, Leukapheresis, and Therapeutic Depletions.</li>
<li>Collect blood componentsfromn subjects enrolled in internal and external research studies.</li>
<li>Organize a plan for the procedure before starting, i.e., coordination with the Medical Director, making phone calls to hospitals, etc.</li>
<li>Measure vital signs and compare them to normal values for heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and blood pressure. Report variations to physicians.</li>
<li>Perform venipuncture for both blood sampling and therapeutic and/or research procedures.</li>
<li>Draw blood samples for various tests into appropriate tubes, properly labeled and with lab slips. Deliver blood samples to the proper lab for processing.</li>
<li>Recognize changes in the patient's clinical status and notify the patient's physician of adverse events.</li>
<li>Evaluate the patient's plan of care and tolerance of therapeutic procedures.</li>
<li>Familiarize oneself with the medical problems of patients to be pheresed and ask the ordering physicians whether any special complications might be anticipated.</li>
<li>Evaluate the respiratory and cardiovascular status of patients and donors. Notify the physician of any complications.</li>
<li>Explain all aspects of procedures to donors and patients before beginning.</li>
<li>Record nursing notes, lab values, and other patient-related information.</li>
<li>Administer medication when needed orally, subcutaneously, and/or intravenously.</li>
<li>Administer blood components as per the MD's order.</li>
<li>Identify a transfusion reaction and follow the protocol for a reaction.</li>
<li>Demonstrate proper administration of oxygen per nasal prongs, mask, and ambu bag.</li>
<li>Know the location of the emergency medications.</li>
<li>Assist physicians and paramedics with emergency procedures.</li>
<li>Use and properly care for A-V shunts and central venous catheters (i.e., Quinton, Hickman, etc.).</li>
<li>Utilize equipmenttroubleshootroubleshoot the department's equipment. When unable to solve problems on their own, they utilize resources, i.e., company services, company technical assistance, Bloodworks manuals, etc.</li>
<li>Use point-of-care testing equipment in-house or at area hospitals.</li>
<li>Perform on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis with co-workers.</li>
<li>Properly screen potential donors for acceptability by checking medical history, medication records, labs, etc. Understand the post-donation issues faced by returning donors.</li>
<li>Listen with empathy to patients and family members.</li>
<li>Maintain a pleasant environment for donors and patients.</li>
<li>Maintain a good working rapport with physicians, lab personnel, and fellow staff members.</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with peers to identify errors or problems; express views without being judgmental or condescending; ask for help when necessary.</li>
<li>Order and stock supplies forthe department.</li>
<li>Maintain a clean work area and equipment. Intervene to provide a safe environment, i.e, wipe up spills, position electrical cords out of walkways, keep halls clear, and follow smoking regulations.</li>

WMS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of HR infrastructure and applications which support all of these institutions, along with the implementation of new HR services and processes that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.
The HR Business Analyst for Customer Support and Operations (&ldquo;Analyst&rdquo;) position will report to the Director for UW Medicine HR (UWMHR) and operate as a member of the Workforce Management Systems Team that is dedicated to supporting UW Medicine HR projects, processes, workforce data management and reporting.

Family Medicine Registered Nurse, South Clinics (.6-1.0 FTE)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Cell Therapy MFG Associate I to join our Cell Therapy programs here at Bloodworks. The incumbent should function as a member of the Bloodworks Bio Advanced Therapies department, performing the technical aspects of receiving, labeling, processing, testing, storing, and distributing products and samples handled by the Advanced Therapies Laboratory. Additionally, performs activities related to the nonconformance process, data entry and review, and validation protocols.
 
Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
<ul>

REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

<li>Bachelor of Science in medical technology, laboratory science, chemical, physical, or biological science (or equivalent combination of education and experience).</li>
<li>Experience with flow cytometric analysis is desirable.</li>
<li>Experience with ISO-certified cleanrooms is desirable.</li>
<li>Experience with operating biological safety cabinets (BSCs) is desirable.</li>
</ul>
Specific job skills include, but are not limited to:

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar with interests in bacterial genomics, the gut microbiome, microbiology, and global health to join the Weil Lab in the University of Washington Division of Allergy &amp; Infectious Diseases. The Weil Lab is focused on identifying pathogen-host microbe interactions mechanisms of protection against Vibrio cholerae, the causative agent of cholera. We perform detailed studies using specimens derived from human samples.
Projects include:
<ul>
<li>Creating knock-out mutants to study how V. cholerae virulence is impacted by gut bacteria isolated from humans
</li><li>Screening pathogen-host microbe interactions including effects on V. cholerae growth, cholera toxin expression, biofilm formation, and motility</li>
<li>Once interactions are identified, testing these in enteroid and multi-cell type human cell culture models in microaerophilic conditions to mimic the human small intestinal environment</li>
</ul>
 The candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to one or more projects, learning advanced cellular and molecular biology and anaerobic microbiology techniques.

 The candidate&rsquo;s day will be split between benchwork to generate data, and computer work to generate reports, keep records, write manuscripts, prepare presentations, etc. The ideal candidate will have post-graduation experience in bacterial genomics and have published (or under review) several papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The work is highly collaborative, so excellent written and oral communication skills are required as is the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities with exceptional organizational and time management skills.

 This is a full-time position with a 12 months service period with the possibility for yearly renewal dependent upon performance and continued funding. The base salary range for this position will be: $68,460 - $74,106 annually ($5,705 - $6,176 per month) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. We anticipate that this position will begin in Winter-Spring 2026.
