This position supports our team-based care where you&rsquo;ll spend more time with patients and expand your physician-support and administrative duties, increases the efficiency and productivity of the physician and anticipates future needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic. Our Care Team Coordinator (Medical Assistant) provide full medical and surgical services, from general dermatology care to specialty services, to patients with skin diseases. We use the latest techniques to care for a range of conditions affecting the skin. We also work closely with you to take precautions against skin cancer, infections, dry skin and the aging effects of sun exposure. Our services include treatment of cosmetic skin problems such as age spots and birthmarks and the removal of unwanted hair and tattoos. We offer chemical peels, Botox injections and dermal fillers. We also offer general dermatology services, and we offer quick scheduling for appointments.
Our Care Team Coordinator's (Medical Assistant) accompany the physicians or medical providers into the examination rooms in order to transcribe the clinician&rsquo;s and care team&rsquo;s encounter with the patients in real time. They accurately and thoroughly document the encounter with our patients as it is being performed by the providers, which may include documentation in the following sections: problem list, history of present illness, review of systems, physical exam, assessment and plan, procedures and treatments performed by team, patient education, orders, medications, referrals, explanations of risks and benefits, and instructions for self-care and follow-up.
This position will mainly support our Dermatology Clinics but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Pediatrics and/or Specialty/Outreach Clinics.

Reviews EMR for patient care gaps, addresses and updates missing data.</li><li>
Communicates a summary of the patient-reported information to the provider prior to entry of the room or within the room with the patient present.</li><li>
Accompanies the physician or medical provider into the examination room in order to transcribe the clinician&rsquo;s and care team&rsquo;s encounter with the patient in real time.</li><li>
Accurately and thoroughly documents the encounter with the patient as it is being performed by the provider, which may include documentation in the following sections: problem list, history of present illness, review of systems, physical exam, assessment and plan, procedures and treatments performed by team, patient education, orders, medications, referrals, explanations of risks and benefits, and instructions for self-care and follow-up.</li><li>
Appropriately documents results of laboratory and radiographic studies as dictated by the clinician. Organizes all patient test results and transcribes the results of the encounter into the patient&rsquo;s medical record.</li><li>
Responsible for the input of orders for provider signature or signing orders (per protocol) as directed by the provider. This may include referral orders, medication refill orders, imaging orders, or lab orders.</li><li>
Identifies the portions of the encounter that were scribed on behalf of the provider using the scribe signature per policy.</li><li>
Schedules future appointments, referrals, procedures, and diagnostics as appropriate.</li><li>
Provides patient instruction using pre-approved patient education materials specific to the chief complaint or for the health promotion of observed behaviors known to contribute to poor health, as directed by the provider.</li><li>

Patient Care Technician - Orthopedic Inpatient Unit 60% Rotating - North Liberty

Provide medical care and management for patients, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided for the Internal Medicine patient with an emphasis on cardiology patients. Function independently to plan, deliver, and evaluate health care for the Internal Medicine cardiology inpatient population. Job includes rotating through several services, including hospitalist teams and cardiology consult team
As the hospitalist team, facilitate the transition of care from the ED to inpatient cardiology services. Focus on the caring for hospitalized patients to manage care and length of stay, improve resource utilization and decrease costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care. On the cardiology consult service, evaluate and manage cardiology consult inpatients and work with the primary team to facilitate appropriate care, including cardiac catheterization, and medication therapy. The position requires staffing nights and weekends and, while primarily located at the University Campus, may staff at other locations including Iowa Rehab hospital and University of Iowa Medical Center North Liberty. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Provision of Medical Care; Collaboration with Care Team:<ul><li>
Perform/order medical diagnostics and therapeutic procedures, and prescribe, dispense or deliver medication.</li><li>

Improve quality of care by performing chart reviews and participating on performance improvement committees.</li></ul>
Education/ Health/ Promotion/ Research:<ul><li>
Provide health education to patients and medical education to health professions students and residents.</li><li>
Participate in ongoing research and professional development of self and other staff.</li></ul>
Administration/ Human Resources Management:<ul><li>
Establish and maintain procedures and systems to assure staff compliance with policies and standards of care.</li><li>
Initiate corrective action as needed.</li><li>

<div>Education/License Requirements:
Physician Assistant (PA): Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA.
Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP):<ul><li>A Master&rsquo;s degree is required. A Master&rsquo;s degree in Nursing is preferred. If a Master&rsquo;s degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.</li><li>Current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.</li><li>Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa is required.</li></ul>
Required Qualifications:<ul><li>
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.</li><li>
Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in area of Internal Medicine clinical practice or previous experience in specified hospital specialty area or demonstrated knowledge of area of clinical practice is required.</li><li>
Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.</li></ul>
Desired Qualifications:<ul><li>
Experience providing overall medical care and provide medical management for adult patients in a General Internal Medicine inpatient setting is highly desirable.</li><li>
Experience exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided is highly desirable.</li><li>
Experience managing length of stay, improve resource utilization and decrease costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care is highly desirable.</li><li>
Experience with the evaluation and treatment of General Internal Medicine patients and the supervision of General Internal Medicine procedures is highly desirable.</li></ul>
