4RCP is a 47-bed unit providing care for adult medical cardiology, cardiac and thoracic surgery patients requiring telemetry monitoring, temporary cardiac pacing, vasoactive and anticoagulant medication infusions. The unit provides care to postoperative patients including esophagectomies, Nissen fundoplications, thoracotomies, heart transplantation, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve replacements and transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVR). 4RCP also provides care to patients with cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, chest pain, post percutaneous coronary interventions, as well as arrhythmia management. In addition, the unit is certified to provide care to patients with left ventricular-assist-devices (LVAD).  The Adult Acute Care Unit is a 30-bed, medical surgical unit. We serve a variety of patient populations including the Family Medicine service along with specialized surgical patients. The surgical patients include otolaryngology (ENT), oral surgery, and plastic reconstructive surgery. We are able to provide our patients with all private rooms, which allows for a more comfortable experience for both patients and their families. Provide medical care and management for patients, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided for the Internal Medicine patient with an emphasis on cardiology patients. Function independently to plan, deliver, and evaluate health care for the Internal Medicine cardiology inpatient population. Job includes rotating through several services, including hospitalist teams and cardiology consult team
As the hospitalist team, facilitate the transition of care from the ED to inpatient cardiology services. Focus on the caring for hospitalized patients to manage care and length of stay, improve resource utilization and decrease costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care. On the cardiology consult service, evaluate and manage cardiology consult inpatients and work with the primary team to facilitate appropriate care, including cardiac catheterization, and medication therapy. The position requires staffing nights and weekends and, while primarily located at the University Campus, may staff at other locations including Iowa Rehab hospital and University of Iowa Medical Center North Liberty. The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking Patient Care Technicians in the Medicine Specialty Unit (6RC) to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses. This unit is part of the Medical Surgical Services (MSS) Division.
The General Medicine unit focuses on the care of adults with a variety of medical diagnoses, including, but not limited to, diseases or disorders of the pulmonary system, gastrointestinal system, renal system, endocrine system, circulatory system, neurological system, as well as infectious diseases, dermatological disorders and autoimmune disorders.
This unit is a dynamic and fast paced environment rich with opportunities for learning. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages team work between physicians, nursing staff, therapy staff, social work and a variety of other consulting disciplines to provide the most comprehensive care for our patients.
