Pharmacy technicians are persons specialized and skilled in the practical and mechanical aspects of the profession of pharmacy. The pharmacy technician position requires a high level of function in specific skills and knowledge. Increasing involvement of pharmacists with patient care activities has increased the need for trained and qualified pharmacy technicians who are able to assume the more technical roles in pharmacies to relieve the pharmacist of these functions. Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.

Responsibilities:

Procures and distributes medication orders per physician request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.</li><li>
Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.</li></ul>
Qualifications:
<ul><li>HS diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years experience general pharmacy technician work experience. Experience in an ambulatory pharmacy setting as a pharmacy technician is helpful, however, not required.
