Provide medical care and management for patients, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided for the Internal Medicine patient with an emphasis on cardiology patients. Function independently to plan, deliver, and evaluate health care for the Internal Medicine cardiology inpatient population. Job includes rotating through several services, including hospitalist teams and cardiology consult team
As the hospitalist team, facilitate the transition of care from the ED to inpatient cardiology services. Focus on the caring for hospitalized patients to manage care and length of stay, improve resource utilization and decrease costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care. On the cardiology consult service, evaluate and manage cardiology consult inpatients and work with the primary team to facilitate appropriate care, including cardiac catheterization, and medication therapy. Patient Care Technician- Postpartum, Newborn, Gynecology Unit (3JPP) - 50% Day/Evening

<div><div>Position Summary</div> 

The University of Iowa Health Care department of Radiology is seeking a 50% Patient Care Technician to under direct supervision, assists the members of the Nursing team in provision of multiple types of patient care in in-patient and out-patient care areas. Their work requires familiarity with a wider variety of nursing procedures used in delivering patient care.<div> 
Position Responsibilities</div> 
<ul><li> Assists with patient admission, transfers, and discharges</li><li> Provides for patients' personal hygiene and comfort</li><li> Turns, positions, and ambulates patients</li><li> Transports patients, equipment, specimens and supplies</li><li> Feeds patients, serves drinking water and nourishments, and records patients' intake</li><li> Assists patients with bedpans and urinals and records output</li><li> Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure</li><li> Carries out medical asepsis and cares for isolated patients</li><li> Performs simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as enemas, preoperative preparation of the skin, dressing changes, collecting specimens, applying binders, etc</li><li> Participates in nursing care conferences; reports pertinent patient information and incidents to nurse in charge</li><li> Provides for patient comfort measures through social interactions</li><li> Shares responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies and for neatness and cleanliness of unit</li><li> May assemble equipment and supplies in preparation for various diagnostic or treatment procedures performed by physicians or nurse</li><li> Performs special duties as taught and directed by the nurse in charge</li><li> Cleans patient units, operating rooms and examining rooms dependent on the area of assignment</li></ul>
