<div><div><div><div><div><p><b>GCI's Construction &amp; Implementation Technician I </b>is a field-based technician position working closely with engineering and project management offices to develop, construct, deliver, and deploy network infrastructure and architecture including outside/inside plant applications. Maintains system wide oversight and network integrity within all plant systems and architecture, network, and business facilities across Alaska and occasionally in the lower 48. Work locations include customer&rsquo;s residential property, business properties, field, and central offices.
</p><p>*This position may be assigned to any area needed to support Technology Solutions and network repairs including outside plant, construction, business, and network facilities.<br>

<div><div><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AT ALL LEVELS:
</b></div></div><br>
<div><div><ul><li>Construction, design, and implementation of network facilities and delivery architecture to maintain network integrity in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
</li><li>Implementation and installation, modification, testing, and turn-up procedures of video, voice, and data circuits and equipment, to include terrestrial, satellite, microwave, optical, hybrid fiber coax, and ethernetin accordance with industry standards and best practices.
</li><li>Support and install equipment racks, cabinets for central, remote, and field offices to include rack support pedestals, cable trays, bracing, optical enclosures, and all relevant cabling infrastructure, etc.
</li><li>Accurately read, interpret, evaluate, apply, implement, and update information from system maps, equipment readings, test parameters, construction, and design work orders, associated engineering drawings, and follow-up documentation.
</li><li>Coordinate and oversee contract resources, i.e., installers, technicians, electricians, HVAC contractors.
</li><li>Collaboration and coordination with Construction and Implementation technicians, engineering and operations staff, companywide leadership, and business and residential customers.
</li><li>Daily reporting and communication, using both PC and mobile devices for email, text, and video chat. Written and photo site documentation.
<ul><li>Ability to accurately communicate information virtually (i.e., Teams), over the phone, and in-person.
</li><li>Ability to accurately read, write, and respond to routine business correspondence such as emails, chat messages, policies, procedures, reports.
</li><li>Understanding of industry standard implementation and installation, modification, testing, and turn-up procedures of video, voice, and data circuits and equipment.
</li><li>Understanding of construction, design, and implementation of network facilities and delivery architecture.
</li><li>Understanding of electronics and telephony equipment, field-based construction, and implementation.
</li><li>Analytical skills and demonstrated ability to accurately read, interpret/evaluate, apply/implement, update information from system maps, equipment readings, test parameters, construction, and design work orders, associated engineering drawings and follow-up documentation.
</li><li>Ability to follow company and OSHA guidelines for safe work practicesand comply with company driver safety program.

</b></p><p>This is a first level position within the telecommunications field-based construction &amp; implementation technician discipline that gains technical knowledge from the company&rsquo;s certification and education programs, and by supporting and working with senior technicians. Supports, assists, and collaborates with senior technicians and engineers in the development, construction, and delivery of equipment installations statewide. Receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments. Work is closely supervised and reviewed for timeliness, accuracy, and following correct procedures.<br>

</b></p><div><div><div><div><p><b>Network &amp; Equipment Adds, Moves, and Changes
</b></p><ul><li>Perform basic network design, construction, and implementation for new, existing, routine preventative, and corrective maintenance, testing and repairs, construction management of facilities, optical plant, HFC plant, and related electronic equipment providing video, voice, and data services.
</li><li>Support installation and removal of service affecting equipment, cabling, and network infrastructure, test, and turn-up across urban and remote Alaska with occasional travel to the lower 48 states.
</li><li>Implement and install central office equipment, racks and cabinets, rack support pedestals, cable trays, bracing, main distribution frames, fuse and power distribution panels, routers, switches.
</li><li>Implement and install customer premise equipment racks and cabinets, cabling, routers, switches, phones, and other telecommunications equipment.
</li><li>Under supervision, install, identify, and terminate various types of cabling and wiring including coax, ethernet, optical, waveguide, data, and power cables.
</li>Perform basic test and turn-up procedures of all equipment installed to industry specifications and best practices; troubleshoot technical issues as needed.<br>

</b></p><ul><li>Working knowledge and ability to accurately interpret and apply GR.1275, NEC, NESC, OSHA, FCC, company, municipal, and industry standards rules and regulations.

</li><li>Basic understanding of electronics, telephony, and HFC equipment, test equipment, and troubleshooting of circuits and equipment.
</li><li>Knowledgeable of proper installation practices, operation, testing, and troubleshooting of a wide range of telecommunications equipment including but not limited to: routers, hubs, satellite modems, protection switches and amplifiers, VSAT stations, microwave radio systems, switches, M&amp;C Equipment, DLC systems, channel banks, structured cabling systems, DACS systems, fiber-optic cables, enclosures, terminations, multiplexers, high-speed data circuits and equipment, and distributed data networks.
</li><li>Knowledge of installation methods, test, modify, and repair a wide range of central office, remote office, and field office support equipment, including cabling, power distribution and grounding, framework, air handling controls, and alarm reporting systems.
</li><li>Basic understanding of AC and DC power systems, grounding in a Central Office environment and an understanding of general safety regulations, desired.
</li>Basic knowledge of fiber-optics, coaxial and network cable, satellite, microwave, telecommunications, and electronic installation procedures.<br>

</li><li>Additional certifications or successful course completion may be required within a defined period after position acceptance.
</li><li><i>For promotion/progression from Associate Technician to Technician I - required to complete the NCTI &ldquo;Installer&rdquo; course or approved equivalent.<br>

</li><li>Safely move, transport, position, install, remove, and maneuver equipment and supplies of up to 70-pound loads occasionally, up to 50-pounds more regularly, up to 20 pounds frequently.
</li><li>High degree of dexterity and coordination to operate hand tools and to connect, separate, and twist multiple smaller items on a daily basis.
</li><li>Visual acuity necessary to identify, inspect, observe, and assess details at near, mid, and far ranges.
</li><li>Ability to clearly distinguish colors for driving, identifying cables or other electrical components, and safety signage.
</li><li>Auditory acuity necessary to operate equipment; capable of distinguishing between equipment signals and the human voice often amidst background noises, such as wind, rain, and traffic.
