You&rsquo;ll work in the Agent Safety/Evals team, a new sub-team within AI Foundations. We build the shared platforms, harnesses, and guardrails that enable engineering and product teams to safely, reliably, and deterministically use machine learning and generative AI agents for internal systems and workflows across the business. This is a delivery-focused team that sits at the intersection of engineering and delivery, focusing on empowering our internal users.
The Role
We&rsquo;re hiring a Lead Software Engineer to head our newly formed Agent Safety/Evals team. As AI agents take on more autonomous tasks across Kraken's internal workflows, this role is critical to ensuring they do so securely and predictably.
This is a leadership role focused on constraining our internally facing AI agents to an expected operation space and guaranteeing system reliability.
You will define the technical strategy for how we evaluate models, enforce safety guardrails, and govern AI behavior across internal platforms, skills, and harnesses. You&rsquo;ll work closely with the broader AI Foundations team and engineers across Kraken to ensure that our push for rapid AI adoption in internal tooling never compromises on security, determinism, or quality.
What you'll own<ul><li>
Lead the technical direction for internal agent safety: Design and implement systems focused on the reliability, security, and determinism of LLMs and autonomous agents, constraining them strictly to expected operational spaces within our internal ecosystems.</li><li>
Build robust evaluation frameworks: Develop scalable harnesses and evals tailored to internal workflows and skills. You will be responsible for asking the right types of questions about the quality and reproducibility of our evals, while engineering the systems to measure them robustly.</li><li>
Implement guardrails and governance: Create and enforce pre- and post-generation guardrails, managing the overarching governance of AI models operating within internal tools and platforms.</li><li>

Overview

We're looking to hire for our Data side of our AI team at Speechify. This role is responsible for all aspects of data collection to support our model training operations. We are able to build high-quality datasets at petabyte-scale and low cost through a tight integration of infrastructure, engineering, and research work. What You'll Do

<li>Be scrappy to find new sources of audio data and bring it into our ingestion pipeline</li>
<li>Operate and extend the cloud infrastructure for our ingestion pipeline, currently running on GCP and managed with Terraform.</li>
<li>Collaborate closely with our Scientists to shift the cost/throughput/quality frontier, delivering richer data at bigger scale and lower cost to power our next-generation models.</li>
<li>Collaborate with others on the AI Team and Speechify Leadership to craft the AI Team's dataset roadmap to power Speechify's next-generation consumer and enterprise products.</li>

An Ideal Candidate Should Have

<li>BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.</li>
<li>5+ years of industry experience in software development.</li>
<li>Proficiency with bash/Python scripting in Linux environments</li>
<li>Proficiency in Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and professional experience with at least one major Cloud Provider (we use GCP)</li>

About the Role
As Agentic Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for building and operating the enterprise agentic engineering platform that enables AI agents to safely plan, reason, use tools and execute work across Travel Counsellors' technology estate. 
 
This is an agentic engineering role with strong Platform foundations. Your primary focus will be the design, development and production operation of autonomous and semi-autonomous agents for software delivery, platform operations, service reliability, security and engineering productivity. You will create reusable agent capabilities, orchestration patterns, tool integrations, memory and retrieval services, evaluation frameworks and governance controls that allow teams to adopt agentic automation safely at scale. 
 
You will treat agents as production software: versioned, tested, observable, secure, cost-controlled and accountable. Working across Platform Engineering, Architecture, Security, Data and product teams, you will turn high-value operational workflows into reliable agentic products with clear human oversight, measurable outcomes and safe rollback. 
Principal Accountabilities<ul><li>
Design, build and operate the enterprise agentic platform, including orchestration, runtime services, model routing, memory, identity and policy enforcement.</li><li>
Develop reusable agent frameworks, SDKs and patterns that enable engineering teams to build secure, scalable AI agents consistently.</li><li>
Engineer autonomous and human-in-the-loop agent workflows that plan, execute, validate and escalate tasks within defined risk and governance controls.</li><li>
Integrate agents securely with enterprise platforms, cloud services, APIs and knowledge sources using modern integration standards and Model Context Protocol (MCP).</li><li>
Build production-grade agent services using Python, cloud-native architectures, event-driven design, automation and Infrastructure as Code.</li><li>
Implement robust evaluation, observability and continuous improvement capabilities, including testing, tracing, telemetry and performance optimisation.</li><li>
Embed security, governance and responsible AI principles through least-privilege access, policy enforcement, auditability and data protection.</li><li>

Required Experience<ul><li>
Hands-on experience designing and operating production AI-agent or LLM-powered systems, not only experimenting with chat interfaces or prompt prototypes.</li><li>
Strong software engineering capability in Python, including API design, automated testing, asynchronous processing, dependency management and production debugging.</li><li>
Practical experience with agent orchestration, structured tool calling, workflow state, retrieval-augmented generation and human-in-the-loop patterns.</li><li>
Experience building secure integrations with enterprise APIs, repositories, cloud services, CI/CD, observability or ITSM platforms.</li><li>
Experience creating evaluation frameworks for agent quality, task completion, safety, reliability, latency and cost.</li><li>
Strong understanding of agent security, including workload identity, least privilege, secrets management, sandboxing, approvals and audit trails.</li><li>
Experience observing and operating LLM or agent workloads in production, including tracing, prompt/model/tool versioning, regression monitoring and incident response.</li><li>
Strong AWS and cloud-native engineering experience, including Infrastructure as Code, containers or serverless services, networking, IAM and monitoring.</li><li>
Experience with CI/CD and production ownership, with willingness and ability to participate in an on-call rota.</li><li>
