 who will oversees data collection, data organization, and/or data management or similar functions/tasks for research study(ies) in support of a PI or a research team. The Research Assistant supports the UM1 medicinal cannabis registry by carrying out essential study operations including participant-facing data collection, data organization and management, routine reporting, and data quality checks to ensure accurate, complete, and timely research data. This role ensures day-to-day registry workflows run efficiently in support of the PI and research team.

  Specific Duties &amp; Responsibilities

  <br/>
 </strong>
 <ul>
  <li>
   Run routine and ad hoc reports.
  </li>
  <li>
   Use standard tools and computer programs to review data.
  </li>
  <li>
   Assist with data cleaning measures to ensure accuracy of data and preparation of tables.
  </li>
  <li>
   Lead basic activities such as data collection and data entry.
  </li>
  <li>
   May lead specific tasks and develop processes to ensure study activities occur effectively and efficiently.
  </li>
  <li>
   May conduct literature searches to support faculty in research efforts.
  </li>
  <li>
   May design and format papers/publications.
  </li>
  <li>
   May assist PIs in writing summaries of papers for release as policy briefs or other channels.
  </li>
  <li>
   Other duties as assigned.

  <li>
   Conduct participant recruitment and re-contact for longitudinal follow-ups (baseline, scheduled follow-ups, missed assessments), including outreach via phone/email/text and tracking recruitment metrics.
  </li>
  <li>
   Support participant retention through scheduling, reminder workflows, troubleshooting barriers to completion, and participant communications consistent with IRB-approved scripts.
  </li>
  <li>
   Perform high-volume REDCap-based data collection and quality control, including resolving missing/inconsistent data, documenting corrections, and escalating protocol deviations.

  Minimum Qualifications
  <br/>
  <br/>
 </strong>
 <ul>
  <li>
   Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  </li>
  <li>
   Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
   <br/>
   <br/>
  </li>

  Preferred Qualifications

 <ul>
  <li>
   REDCap (or comparable clinical research database such as Qualtrics) with demonstrated ability to perform data management and basic QC checks.
  </li>
  <li>
   Strong communication skills, including experience recruiting/scheduling participants and maintaining professionalism while handling sensitive health/substance use information.
  </li>
  <li>
   Prior experience supporting longitudinal cohort studies or registries, including participant retention/follow-up tracking workflows.
  </li>
  <li>
   Experience working in substance use, mental health, or clinical research settings.
