<div>At Houston Methodist, the Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) position is licensed clinician who is responsible for, with minimal supervision, supporting, facilitating and coordinating the daily clinical trial activities and plays a critical role in the conduct of the study. This position functions at the Competent level according to the Benner's model of clinical practice. The CRN provides direct patient care effectively and efficiently to research patients under the supervision of the Clinical Trials Manager and Principal Investigator. This position implements clinical research patient care via the research protocol. The CRN position works with the Performance Improvement department, sponsor, and institution to support and provide guidance on the administration of the GCP compliance, financial and other related aspects of the research study. This position serves as a liaison between physicians, patients, staff and sponsors. The CRN position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to standards and guidelines established by regulatory agencies and Houston Methodist to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS<ul><li>
Follows the clinical research protocol and nursing process and modifies care based on continuous evaluation of the research patient&rsquo;s condition. Performs nursing functions independently and in collaboration with Principal Investigator as approved by Hospital administration for the conduct of clinical research.
</li><li>Collects, processes and ships protocol-required lab specimens; maintains supply and equipment inventory; maintains appropriate laboratory certification as well as perform study closeout procedures including post-study documentation, return of study materials to the sponsor and data archiving.

Job Summary and Qualifications</h5><h6 class="jobSectionHeader">
The Senior Research Nurse offers a significant contribution to the development of processes, tools, and training necessary to maintain site compliance and patient safety. The nurse in this role is responsible for coordinating multiple research protocols; serving as a liaison with local investigators and local research personnel; and acting as a central resource for assigned research projects.
Job Duties:
<ul><li>Complete study medication order forms accurately, when needed, and has physician or appropriate designee sign orders prior to medication administration</li><li>
Oversee and manages routine operational activities for multiple research protocols</li><li>
Liaise between site research personnel, industry sponsors, and Supervisor</li><li>
Collaborate closely with various site departments/teams, including finance, relevant hospital administrative representatives, and the local IRB, if applicable</li><li>
Review proposed budgets for adequate coverage and recommends changes to Supervisor
</li><li>Coordinate protocol schedule of assessments from initial submission of feasibility until study closeout

Patients access the Supportive Care Center through an internal consultation initiated by their primary service or physician. The center supports individuals with any cancer diagnosis and at any stage of their disease or treatment journey. 
 
Clinical Nurse, Outpatient opportunities in the Supportive Care Center. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of RN experience, preferably in hospice, palliative, and/or oncology care, or at least two years of med-surg experience. 
 
Shift: varied shift between 7:45 am - 5:00 pm

<div>GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Nurse Coordinator is a patient care provider. The Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for the management of physician orders to outside services to ensure accurate and timely care delivery. The Nurse Coordinator will also be responsible for managing the individualized patient service plans in accordance with physician orders and instructions as well as administrative procedures. This will be accomplished by coordinating transitions of care from referring facilities during admission and assist with a safe transition home. In addition, the Nurse Coordinator will fulfill the duties of a RN as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Major Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Manage individualized service plans.
</li><li>Process admissions and discharges by coordinating with referral sources, business development and admitting physician.</li><li>
Ensure physician orders are acted on and communicated appropriately with pharmacy, lab, internal case managers and referral sources, including obtaining prior authorizations and diagnosis codes for tests.</li><li>
Function as floor nurse as needed.
</li><li>Perform cart audits to ensure EMR and medications on cart are accurate with current orders.</li><li>
Prepare patient medications for patients going out on pass or discharging.</li><li>
