<p></p><div><p>Community Assisted Response &amp; Engagement (CARE) is hiring Community Crisis Responder I&rsquo;s as part of the expansion of the Community Crisis Response (CCR) Unit. These positions will be responsible for being the first-line responder as a part of a team with other CCR team members and will report to a Community Crisis Responder Supervisor.</p><p>
CARE manages Seattle&rsquo;s 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency response, working with other Public Safety Departments, including Seattle Police and Seattle Fire, to ensure a safe and healthy community. CARE expands the city&rsquo;s ability to enhance public safety through Dual Dispatch, which provides additional mental health professionals to respond to people experiencing non-violent mental health crises or quality of life concerns.</p><p>
Seattle 9-1-1 processes more than 900,000 telephone calls for service annually, the majority of which result in the dispatch of police, fire, rescue, and Community Crisis Responders.</p><p>
The CCR Units operate on shifts to ensure citywide coverage seven days a week. Community Crisis Responders will be scheduled for 40 hours a week with the potential for overtime.</p></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Job Responsibilities</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><ul><li>Provide rapid response and crisis intervention to individuals who have come to the attention of Seattle 9-1-1.</li><li>
Assess individuals to rapidly identify urgent needs related to substance use disorder, mental illness, environmental threats, and personal safety to determine best course for care or to recommend ongoing case management (medical care, substance use treatment, therapeutic support, etc.)</li><li>
Recommend to persons in crisis appropriate governmental and nonprofit supports and programs (such as SSI, ABD, VA services), or to identify shelter options and housing support.</li><li>
Support and promote alternatives to jail and hospitalization to stabilize and improve the outcomes for community members experiencing behavioral or mental health crises.</li><li>
Act as a liaison to coordinate services between community members in crisis and appropriate agencies; provide up to 30 days of care navigation to ensure appropriate service provision.</li><li>
Prepare written status reports or case management notes. Document interviews, observations, and recommendations in database, in compliance with HIPAA and department policy and ethical standards.</li><li>
Participate in departmental meetings providing insight and trend data concerning crisis intervention issues.</li><li>
Collaboratively work with other Community Crisis Responders, Clinical Supervisor, and Department leadership to determine client eligibility for programs and authorize and/or recommend appropriate services.</li><li>
Develop and promote collaborative working relationships with service providers and other Seattle first responders to ensure quality care for community members.</li><li>
Manage internal project/caseload initiatives as assigned by supervisor and CARE leadership.</li><li>
Maintain communication with City of Seattle departments and partner agencies and conduct site visits as needed to worksite agencies to ensure compliance with personnel and employment laws, practices, and procedures.</li></ul><p><br>

Job Summary</b></div><div>
You will provide culturally competent, and strength-based peer support to youth, young adults, and families experiencing a behavioral or mental health crisis. Working alongside a Mental Health Care Professional, this position will utilize de-escalation techniques to stabilize the situation; assist in developing a Safety and Action Plan to address priority needs; and, where appropriate, transport individuals to care facilities or alternative placement in the community. Services are provided in client homes or safe community locations (hospital, overnight shelter, transitional housing). You will collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, outside professionals, and others involved in delivering the individual or family&rsquo;s care to meet safety plan needs and action plan goals. As part of a connected, 24/7 regional crisis program, you support care coordination by passing down outreach details and outcomes to our day teams.</div><div><br>
This position is with the Y Social Impact Center, the social services division of the YMCA of Greater Seattle (YGS), serving around 5,000 youth, young adults, and families every year in communities across King County, Pierce County, and various counties across WA. Through our programs we aim to strengthen young people&rsquo;s ability to develop to their fullest potential through four strategies: reducing risk factors; navigating systems towards successful life transition; establishing stability, safety and wellness in times of crisis; and building competencies and social capital. The Social Impact Center&rsquo;s programs include homelessness prevention, housing, behavioral health, crisis response, foster care licensing, violence prevention, and employment. Since many of the young people we serve have been involved in the foster care, criminal justice, behavioral health, and/or homelessness systems, we truly value relatable lived experience of our staff and those applying for our positions as an asset.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work</b><br>
This is a full-time, overnight position in which staff are dispatched from their homes to various locations in the community. Dispatches arrive through a phone app, so staff need to be able to hear notifications, wake up, and respond in a timely manner with their shift partner. All crisis work is to be done in-person unless the individual/family explicitly requests a telehealth response.</div><div><br>
After Hours teams are scheduled to provide on-call support every night (weekdays and weekends), including holidays. <b>The hours of work are typically from 6/7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. the following morning. </b>Flexibility is required with some weekend daytime work required as job duties demand.</div><div><br>

Experience need not be paid.</p><p><b>Location and Scheduling Requirements</b>:</p><ul><li>Able and willing to be physically present in Seattle up to 20% of the time during off-season (September - May) for partnership meetings, in-person staff and volunteer connections, and special events <i>(*Applicants residing outside commuting distance to Seattle will be equally considered, however travel compensation is not available from the organization at this time)</i></li><li>Able and willing to be physically present in Seattle majority of pre-season (80% or more of June and July) to support summer camp prep and Pride month fundraisers</li><li>Able and willing to reside on-site for the majority of August (80% or more) at a location approximately 2 hours outside of Seattle</li><li>Able to work remotely in a highly independent role, effectively supervise staff remotely, and be available for occasional evenings and weekends both virtually and in-person</li></ul><p><b>Education &amp; Experience Qualifications</b>:</p><ul><li>Three or more seasons experience supervising a camp program required (five years and residential camp experience <i>strongly</i> preferred)</li><li>Two or more years supervising paid employees required; experience with legal and ethical hiring practices, labor law compliance, and Human Resources best practices strongly preferred</li><li>Prior experience in budget management required; strongly preferred experience with budget creation, bookkeeping, grants management, and other high-level fiscal responsibilities</li><li>Two or more years of experience with volunteer management, donor engagement, fundraising, and/or grants management strongly preferred</li><li>Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required (Education, Psychology, Recreation and Leisure, Nonprofit Management, Social Work, etc.)</li></ul><p><b>Skillset Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>Demonstrated understanding of the best practices in organized camping, youth development, and nonprofit leadership</li><li>Highly organized, independent, and detail-oriented with an ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once</li><li>Highly developed skills in interpersonal relationships, communication (both written and verbal), problem solving, public speaking, and group dynamics</li><li>Familiar with best practices for youth development, trauma-informed care, restorative justice, and universal design/inclusive programming highly preferred</li><li>High proficiency in GoogleSuite required; Proficiency in the following platforms strongly preferred: QuickBooks Online, HubSpot, CampBrain, GiveLively, Candid, GrantWatch, and/or other CRMs and Grant Databases</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team with people of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and abilities</li><li>Current First Aid and CPR certification (can be attained within 60 days of hire)</li><li>Must clear a federal background and sex offender registry check, to be repeated annually</li><li>Authorized to work in the United States of America (Camp Ten Trees cannot provide visa sponsorship at this time)</li><li>A valid driver's license and reliable transportation</li></ul><p>BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals are strongly encouraged.
