 We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual who is looking for an entry level technician position in the Heavy Equipment field. This position is based out of our Tukwila WA Site.
 
 
 The Helper Technician role will be responsible for assisting master level technicians as well as yard maintenance. The position requires basic knowledge of heavy machinery in order to conduct initial inspection of equipment.
 
 
 
 Salary range starting at $26.90 -29.50/ hour.
 
 
 
 
 About The Position

 This position will assist our technicians with removing, repairing, assembling and installing Caterpillar generators

 You will gain experience as you assist our technicians in troubleshoot engines, powertrains, electrical and hydraulic systems

 You will be exposed to CAT diagnostic equipment, CAT repair tooling, rigging and blocking equipment.

We have a densely planted, extremely diverse, botanical garden-style landscape with a wide variety of trees, shrubs, perennials, grasses, and ferns. Our collection comprises over 3,000 plant species, including many rare and uncommon plants, making it an engaging environment in which to work and study. We also have a variety of spaces, including a children&rsquo;s play garden, rain gardens, a fully planted roof garden, a wildflower meadow, natural areas, green roofs, beds with mixed perennials and grasses, and numerous trees. The spaces we take care of are appreciated and enjoyed by patients, families, and staff, who may be experiencing very difficult situations, so it can be a truly fulfilling place to work in horticulture.
This position will be responsible for performing skilled gardening work and maintaining exterior hardscapes with minimal direct supervision to keep properties clean, safe, and attractive. In an assigned area of up to 10 acres, under general supervision, function independently and be held accountable for overall management and work performed. Coordinate and collaborate with other team members on larger projects. Work is performed year-round, outdoors, in all types of weather at the main campus of Seattle Children's Hospital and at various clinical and non-clinical sites as assigned. 
Required Education and Experience 
High school diploma or equivalent experience. 
A minimum of two (2) years of practical groundskeeping or landscaping experience in a public or institutional environment.
Work experience weeding, grooming, planting, and transplanting, and using hand pruners, weeding tools, loppers, hedge shears, hand saws, basic carpentry tools, backpack blower, mower, and string trimmer.
Work experience pruning a variety of different types and species of woody plants.
Work experience driving trucks. 
As noted in the driver's license requirement below, the applicant must have a driving record acceptable to Risk Management. 
 
Required Credentials 
Current Washington State Driver's License to operate hospital vehicles.

The Airport Maintenance Section is the biggest section at the airport. This section provides critical infrastructure support to the entire airport. <div>SCOPE OF JOB DUTIES:<ul><li>
Operate motor vehicles and radios on runways and taxiways under the control of the Airport's Air Traffic Control Tower to perform airfield maintenance tasks and escort contractor personnel.</li><li>
Assist journey level trade workers who perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, heavy duty machinal work and airfield striping.</li><li>
Assist in performing minor maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs to facilities; repairing and inspecting fences, sidewalks, roofs, gutters, and asphalt and concrete roads; clean and replace various signage types. Operate lift trucks and a variety of power equipment.</li><li>
Mow and rake airport grounds; trim shrubs and trees; perform heavy housekeeping, landscaping and other grounds keeping as directed.</li><li>
Airside and landside snow and ice removal.</li><li>
Maintain and repair runways and taxiways.</li><li>
Inspect and clean catch basins, storm vaults and pump houses.</li><li>
Provide FOO (foreign object debris) and litter control services.</li><li>
Lift, carry, move or handle up to 50-pound bags, tools, equipment, and other objects to complete any of the above reference functions.</li><li>
Respond courteously to airport tenants and the public.</li><li>
Respond to and support Airport emergencies, events, and incidents including inclement weather events.</li></ul></div>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills</h2></div>
<div>WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIATES WHO:<ul><li>
Have experience in construction, road maintenance, airfield maintenance, or other heavy manual labor areas OR completion of a recognized vocational trades program.</li><li>
Have knowledge in the use and care of hand tools and equipment used in airport maintenance, construction, road maintenance or other heavy manual labor areas.</li><li>
Have knowledge of safety procedures for construction, airfield maintenance, or other heavy manual labor areas (fall protection, confined space, hazardous materials).</li><li>
Have knowledge of heavy manual labor activities and can follow verbal and written instructions.</li><li>
Can perform duties including physical labor including bending, kneeling, standing, reaching, climbing, stooping, squatting, pushing, twisting, and can lift up to 50 pounds.</li><li>
Are able to perform work outdoors and in inclement weather.</li><li>
Have basic mechanical aptitude.</li><li>
Can adhere to federal, state, and county mandated safety regulations and policies.</li><li>
Are a team player and understand the value of working as a team.</li><li>
Can exercise proper situational awareness in demanding conditions (i.e., working near landing, departing, and taxing aircraft; precautions during day/night operations, etc.)</li><li>
Have a demonstrated work history of predicable and reliable attendance.</li><li>
Are able to speak and understand Aviation English; standardized international language of civil aviation.</li><li>
Have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, email correspondence, time tracking, City Works and/or other similar applications.</li></ul></div>

<div>NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
Successful applicants must have or obtain a valid driver's license from the state of Washington upon start date.</li><li>
An offer of employment will be contingent on the success of a pre-employment physical examination.</li><li>
Must obtain full airfield driver's certifications within the first month after star of employment.</li><li>
Must be able to distinguish the colors red, green and amber; red, blue, yellow and white.</li></ul>
Work Schedule: 4/l0hr shifts on a day, swing, or weekend crew schedule. Weekends include Saturday or Sunday. Schedules are subject to change. This full-time position is non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. Overtime work may be required. Alternate shift work, including nights, weekend, holidays, as well as extended work hours may be necessary to meet Airport operational and project demand.
