We specialize in radiation oncology and are committed to improving patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for those receiving cancer treatment. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider to join our radiation oncology CNS team and contribute to this mission.

In the Department of Radiation Oncology, the advanced practice provider (APP) can expect to have the unique opportunity to work collaboratively with the radiation oncology physicians, while also practicing independently within the Cancer Center. While the APP can expect a relatively predictable work schedule planned whenever possible, scheduling variations may occur to cover clinical needs as they become apparent to the department/division/clinic.

This position is mainly office-based, in-person, although a portion of the duties will require working in the laboratory where radiopharmaceuticals are manufactured. CCPO Research Nurses are responsible for screening and enrolling patients for trials, patient education, triage phone support for patients in between treatment visits, symptom management, expert knowledge of protocols, meticulous documentation, and strong advocacy for patients while they are on trial.<br>
CCPO Research nurses work closely with Infusion RNs, APPs and Physicians within the Cancer Center to support patients on clinical trials and to meticulously adhere to the protocol.<br>

NURSE PRACTITIONER MS - PER DIEM Rotating Shift - Cardiac Electrophysiology<br>

About this job:<br>
The Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) Nurse Practitioner (NP) will practice in three settings: inpatient, outpatient/ambulatory, and procedural settings. The NP will be involved in all aspects of care with the primary goal of ensuring the effective delivery of care to patients.<br>
<br>
Inpatient and peri-procedural care<br>
<ul><li>The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for obtaining and coordinating the following general items: history and physical, laboratory results, charting of clinical findings, registry documentation, orders, sedation assessment, nursing instructions, consent, and other required elements. The NP, in collaboration with the Laboratory Flow Managers, may be asked to help coordinate admissions and transfers to the hospital. The NP will perform pre-procedure assessments in the recovery room/holding area or outpatient setting as needed.</li><li>The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be knowledgeable about the Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory scheduling, procedure room turnover and availability of resources. They will be called upon to manage patients after their procedures (as appropriate and in collaboration with the consult Fellow) while they await transfer to patient floor or discharge. The NP will assist in family liaison.</li><li>Following procedures, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will manage vascular access, monitor and manage arrhythmias, pacing, drug therapy, O2 therapy, and other non-cardiac medications, under the supervision of the attending physician. The NP will assist in the evaluation and management of clinical events such as fever, altered hemodynamics, CHF, pulmonary complications, abrupt vessel closure, arrhythmias, access site complications and others. The NP will assist in transfers to and from the intensive care units.</li><li>The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will perform patient education regarding discharge including preventive care and risk factor reduction. They will write discharge orders, prescriptions and complete discharge summaries in collaboration with the attending physician. The NP will act as a liaison between the attending cardiologist and family members and will schedule follow-up care as necessary, including VNA if needed.</li></ul><br>
Ambulatory care<br>
<ul><li>The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will collaborate with the team in preparing patients for admissions/procedures. Educate patients regarding a variety of electrophysiology treatments and procedures. Works collaboratively with nursing/clinic staff to assist in the care of patients. This includes, but is not limited to: symptom management, evaluation and management, prescription writing, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies with review by attending MD, patient calls and questions related to electrophysiology clinical care. The NP will provide care via in person clinic visits, virtual clinic visits, and telehealth.</li></ul>
Procedural care<br>
<ul><li>The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be responsible for many aspects of care under the supervision of the attending physician, including but not limited to: cardioversions, suturing, cardiac subcutaneous monitor implant/explant, first assisting during diagnostic EP studies/ablations, device implantation and research procedures performed in the EP laboratory, OR and other clinical areas, as well as fluid and electrolyte management, nutrition, pain management, transfusion therapy, anticoagulation management, education, and post-discharge planning.</li></ul><br>
General/Working Conditions<br>
<ul><li>The Nurse Practitioner (NP) participates in departmental and organizational committees and programs as appropriate and attends all required meetings, in-services, and professional trainings. Remains actively involved in continuing education with a commitment to self and departmental growth. Identifies areas for professional growth. Formulates professional goals, objectives and methods for accomplishing these. Supports initiatives within BWH, the Department of Medicine and the Cardiovascular Division.</li><li>Work settings may include ambulatory clinics and treatment rooms, inpatient areas, intensive care units, operating rooms, and/or procedural areas. There may be loud noises, noxious odors, and temperature extremes. A large portion of the workday may be spent either standing or walking and the position may require heavy lifting of equipment and patients.</li></ul>

A research technician position is available in the laboratory of oncologist Dr. Andrew Elia at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). The laboratory is located in the Krantz Center for Cancer Research at MGH. The candidate will assist in characterizing DNA damage response pathways necessary for maintaining genomic stability and thereby preventing cancer. This work will also focus on elucidating pathways involved in DNA damage activation of immune signaling. Overall, these studies will help to find new targets for the treatment of tumors with specific DNA repair defects and will help to improve the efficacy of combining genotoxic cancer treatments with immunotherapy. Principal investigator has strong track record of technicians placing into top medical and graduate school programs. Graduating seniors are encouraged to apply.
