Job Summary</b></p>
Summary<br>
This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on research experience in partnership with healthcare providers, student-athletes, and researchers. Understanding when a student-athlete is ready to return to play after concussion is an important decision, because of the risk of repeat injury and prolonged recovery that may result from premature return to play. Dr. O'Neil was awarded a grant to determine if a new dynamic, exertion test helps healthcare providers with return to play decision making after concussion. The Clinical Assessment of Sports and Physical Exertion (CASE) is a sub-maximal exercise test that assesses a student-athlete's ability to handle dynamic and multidirectional movements after concussion. As a Clinical Research Coordinator, you will be working directly with healthcare providers at a local high school to administer the CASE to student-athletes recovering from concussion. You will also play a key role in participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, and informed consent; scheduling and coordinating study visits; data collection; regulatory and IRB-related activities; and participant remuneration.<br>

**As part of this role, the incumbent will regularly travel to a local high school in the greater Boston area to support study-related activities. Candidates must have reliable access to transportation that enables timely and consistent travel to and from the work site.**<br>
<br>
Following established policies, procedures, and study protocols, provides assistance on clinical research studies, including recruiting, evaluating, and consenting patients for studies; collecting and organizing patient data; scheduling patients for study visits; performing clinical tests such as phlebotomy, EKGs, etc.; and maintaining and updating data generated by the study. Candidates who are in the process of completing their bachelor's degree have a six-month grace period from their hire date (up to one year if starting on a per diem basis) to provide degree equivalency verification.<br>

Join a supportive Advanced Practice Team in a role supporting the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. This practice specializes in the care of patients with multiple myeloma as well as patients requiring specific procedures in our procedure clinic. These teams have a demonstrated history of providing exquisite, evidence-based patient care. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to work in this invigorating and collaborative environment.

This APP will deliver direct care to outpatients with two days of the work week dedicated to working directly with the multiple myeloma team and two days dedicated to working in the procedure clinic. With an interdisciplinary team approach, this provider will promote a collaborative relationship between providers, professional nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure continuity of patient care in the management of their disease and related issues as well as to develop expertise in the field.

Within this role, the advanced practice provider will be responsible for a panel of patients.

Other responsibilities include:<br>
<ul><li>Caring for patients throughout their continuum of care and fostering collaboration with other providers within the hospital and clinics to facilitate patient care.
</li><li>The APP develops, implements, and evaluates a plan of specialized health care for this oncology patient population throughout the care continuum.
</li><li>Promotes a professional and collaborative relationship and effort between the advanced practice team, medical staff, professional nursing staff, and administrative staff.
</li><li>Strives to provide and to ensure continuity of care for patients, while being efficient in use of resources.
</li><li>Is willing to obtain procedural proficiency for oncologic specific procedures including bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, Ommaya reservoir taps, and skin biopsies, amongst others. The Medical-Surgical ICU (MSICU) at Brigham and Women's Hospital is a pioneering 10-bed unit and the first Physician Assistant-run ICU in our hospital. Our PAs practice at the highest level of their license, providing comprehensive critical care to a diverse mix of medical and surgical patients in a dynamic, high-acuity environment.<br>
Our clinical team is supported by critical care-trained attending physicians with expertise spanning Acute Care Surgery, Pulmonary Medicine, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, and Interventional Radiology. EDUCATION:</b></p><ul>

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate&rsquo;s degree or Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN). BSN preferred.
</li><li>Candidates who do not have a BSN must be enrolled in a Baccalaureate program within 6 months of hire and must complete their BSN within 36 months of hire.
</li><li>Registration and current RN licensure in the state of MA in good standing required.</li></ul><p><br>

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:</b></p><ul>

Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.</li>
<li>Requires current basic life support (BLS) certification. Some units may require Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification.</li>
