The primary responsibility of the Pharmacy Technician is to assist the Pharmacist by performing the technical and clerical tasks necessary for the accurate preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products to the patient care areas of the hospital. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

<ul><li>Prepacks non-unit-dose oral medications as needed for dispensing to the patient care areas.

<ul><li>Aseptically prepares intravenous medications within the allotted time period.

<ul><li>Always uses appropriate technique in the IV Room. This includes use of Aseptic Technique, Use of Chemo gown and appropriate gloves when handling chemotherapy, and closely abides by IV Room policies and procedures.

<ul><li>Medication Orders: Medication Orders are filled accurately and efficiently.
</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>Omnicell: Dispensing to the Omnicell cabinets are accurately and efficiently performed.
</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>Stock Medications: Orders for stock medications are accurately and efficiently performed.
</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>Medication Inspections: Inspects assigned areas inside and outside the Pharmacy for outdated drugs.
</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>Telephone: Answers the phone in a courteous and helpful manner.

<ul><li>Special Projects: Accepts extra duties upon request and completes them according to deadline.

Under the direction of a staff nuclear pharmacist and/or nuclear pharmacy leadership team, follow established policies and procedures to perform a variety of routine support tasks that are integral to the operation of the BICOR program and Nuclear Pharmacy department. <ul><li>Receive, check, store, label, package, and transport all radioactive material in accordance with NRC, DOT, MADPH regulations, and BWH Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>Maintains clean, organized, and safe work areas inside a cleanroom environment used for aseptic processing.</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>Assists in the maintenance of computerized inventory and billing information including data entry and retrieval.</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>Perform routine, periodic floor inspections of materials handling areas to maintain the organization and adequate stock of medications and supplies in BICOR/Nuclear Pharmacy areas.</li></ul><br>
<ul><li>Maintains records on facility maintenance, instrument calibrations/maintenance, radioisotope receipts, inventory, shipments, quality control, laboratory surveys, institutional permits, personnel exposure, and disposal.</li></ul><br>

9. Maintains medication rooms by ensuring all appropriate medications are stocked in patient specific bins in the automated dispensing cabinets and by removing expired and discontinued medications.</p><p>
10. Empties return bins in the automated dispensing cabinets as part of the weekly schedule.</p><p>
11. Utilizes the unit-dose machine to package bulk medications and appropriately compounds non-sterile medications following standard formulas and procedures.</p><p>
12. Performs assigned cycle counts of the carousel on a regular basis, maintaining adequate records of completion.</p><p>
13. Takes accountability for medication management in their assigned patient care area.</p><p>
14. Assists in keeping the Pharmacy neat and clean by caring for equipment and cleaning after compounding prescriptions, manufacturing bulk medications, unit dosing, etc.

17. Inspects assigned medication storage areas monthly maintaining adequate records of inspection. All assigned areas must be inspected every month to meet standard.</p><p>
