Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, performs work of a pharmacy technician, in accordance with Article 137 of the Education Law, specifically Article137-A, which details the tasks permitted for a licensed pharmacy technician and an unlicensed pharmacy technician. Ensures patient safety, optimal utilization of resources, service delivery and compliance with NYC Health + Hospitals, health care setting, and all other relevant regulatory policies and standards of care to improve outcomes and patient experience.</p><p><b>
Examples of Tasks and Responsibilities</b>:</p><p>
1. Validates patient identity and screens prescriptions for completeness, formulary/restriction and payment status, prior to processing.</p><p>
2. Receives written or electronically transmitted prescriptions, types prescription labels and affixes labels on containers.</p><p>
3. Accurately keys and retrieves prescription data from a computer-generated file for review by a pharmacist.
</p><p>4. Obtains drugs from stock and returns them to stock.</p><p>
5. Restocks automated dispensing cabinets.</p><p>
6. Gets prescription files and other manual records from storage and locates prescriptions.</p><p>

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Monitors and manages incoming patient and prescription-related communication channels, including the main fax server and electronic prescription queue.
</li><li>Prioritizes and triage incoming communication based on urgency and relevance, ensuring timely processing and response.</li><li>
Creates and maintain accurate patient profiles in CPR+, including demographic information, medication history and lab information.
</li><li>Verifies patient information and ensure compliance with privacy regulations when setting up new profiles.</li><li>
Receives and processes new drug orders from referral sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness of prescription information.
</li><li>Verifies prescription details, including medication name, dosage, and instructions, and enter orders into CPR+.</li><li>
Communicates effectively with pharmacy staff, healthcare providers, and patients to address any questions or concerns related to incoming prescriptions or patient profiles.
</li><li>Collaborates with Document Management Supervisor to ensure seamless coordination of prescription processing and patient care.</li></ul>
Qualifications:
<ul><li>High School Diploma or GED or licensed/registered pharmacy technician or previous experience in Pharmacy</li><li>
1+ years pharmacy experience</li><li>
Pharmacy or healthcare-related knowledge</li><li>
Knowledge of pharmacy terminology including sig codes, and Roman numbers, brand/generic names of medication</li><li>
Basic math and analytical skills</li><li>
Intermediate typing/keyboard skills</li></ul>
